The posting

Filtronic is an award-winning company, designing and manufacturing world-leading RF, microwave and millimetre-wave (mmWave) solutions for demanding applications, principally across the space and defence sectors.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an NPI Engineer to join our high-performing Manufacturing Engineering team. Reporting to the Lead NPI Engineer, you will support the introduction of new RF and microwave products into manufacturing, helping ensure they can be produced efficiently, consistently and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with colleagues across Engineering, Production, Test and Quality, you'll be involved in taking products from prototype through to production, helping resolve technical challenges and improve manufacturing processes along the way.

This is a great opportunity to develop your experience in NPI while working with advanced RF technologies and a talented team of engineers.

Please note: The internal job title for this position is Manufacturing Engineer (NPI). NPI Engineer is the external job title we use to reflect the role within the wider engineering community.

You'll support the introduction of new products into manufacturing and help develop processes that are reliable, repeatable and suitable for production.

Working alongside the Lead NPI Engineer and wider engineering teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting NPI activities from prototype build through to production release.
  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes for new RF and microwave products.
  • Contributing to Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
  • Reviewing and analysing RF test data to help improve product performance and manufacturing yield.
  • Investigating manufacturing and RF performance issues and helping identify practical solutions.
  • Supporting production ramp-up and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assisting with the design and introduction of manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
  • Preparing and maintaining manufacturing procedures, technical documentation and engineering reports.

Requirements

We're looking for someone with an engineering background who enjoys solving technical problems and working closely with different engineering and manufacturing teams.

You'll ideally have:

  • An HNC, HND, degree or equivalent practical experience in Electronic Engineering, RF Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with RF, microwave or electronic products, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Some experience of New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing process development or supporting the transfer of products into production.
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data.
  • An understanding of structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, DMAIC or FMEA.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different disciplines.

Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis and RF test equipment such as Vector Network Analysers (VNAs), Spectrum Analysers and Signal Generators would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to develop your engineering career within an ambitious and growing business working at the forefront of RF and microwave technology.

You'll be part of a collaborative NPI team, working alongside experienced engineers on technically interesting projects and products used in some of the world's most demanding communications, aerospace, defence and space applications.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
