The role

The Financial Times Academy in Asia delivers the flagship Board Director Programme (FT BDP) and is an established provider of board level training and events. Our mission is to support individuals at every stage of their board career; to ensure that directors are well equipped to make an effective contribution to the boards they sit on, for the long-term success of the organisations they represent.

FT BDP programmes are uniquely delivered by an experienced faculty of practicing board members who bring with them a wealth of real-life experiences to enrich the learning of course participants.

The position is responsible for creating a smooth user journey for our programme candidates (Diploma, Workshops, Enterprise) from point of enquiry through to completion of the programme. Responsibility also spans managing their ongoing relationship with FT Leaders Academy as a member of the Alumni.

Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders will form a significant part of the role and we are looking for candidates that can show that they can deliver results whilst co-ordinating effectively with speakers, tutors, sales and marketing teams as well as third party suppliers and sponsors. You will work closely with these individuals to build strong working relationships, whilst ensuring all customers have a beneficial learning experience.

You will become a brand ambassador for the FT Leaders Academy. A positive customer experience should be core to all that we do, as market leaders in board and executive training: you must be able to effectively and confidently communicate with customers and speakers of all levels.

The FT Academy is a growing business in Asia. We need someone who can positively contribute to that growth by providing diligent administrative and course co-ordination, exceptional customer experience and smooth operational delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Administration – course administration, support scholars throughout their studies, update course content, learning platform management, processing course applications, following up with vendors, students, corporate members for payments, programme finance reporting, organising corporate meetings and invoicing.
  • Event management – manage all relationships with venues, set-up and pack-down, catering and speaker management, RSVP management, attendees and post event close out, including in-person, and events via online platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom. Ensure speakers are briefed on requirements, the relevant set up and technology is in place prior to each event, and in online fora, managing breakout rooms, polls and delegate/speaker’s technical enquiries as required. Compile high standard event materials (attendee biographies, pre-reads, slides, learning materials, buddy lists, etc), ensuring materials meet FT quality standards. Undertake feedback surveys with participants of the FT Academy programmes and provide reports.
  • Programme support - under the Managing Director, undertake research and analysis into programme themes and speakers, draft agendas and programme introductions, coordinate programme timelines.
  • Database management – update and maintain accuracy and currency of databases for the FT Academy business in Asia, including the Board Director Programme.
  • Operations – manage applications, onboarding, communications with our programme participants,provide basic tech support for NED Diploma students and Faculty, be the APAC point of contact for the learning management system, and provide coordination on event timings, assessments, student progress, content, and logistical requirements for our programmes, workshops and other learning activities.
  • Support for FT Academy – under the Managing Director, including basic project management, documentation, payments administration, follow up calls to partners, scheduling meetings, logistics. Work with team members in FT Academy globally to identify and implement best practices in programme administration.

Required skills and experience

  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Loves details! Excellent organisational and time management skills. Project management expertise is a plus.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills, comfortable on phone/email/in person working with multiple levels of seniority, cultures and work styles.
  • Positive attitude. Takes initiative to push projects forward, solve problems before being asked.
  • Able to work independently without supervision and as part of a team.
  • Tech savvy: basic MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with databases and AI fluency (prompting, instruction/design) desirable.Willing to learn new systems as new learning management systems come along. Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Can work under pressure and tight deadlines
