THE ROLE

You help make sure Fonio's numbers are right, every day and every month. You'll handle core accounting work such as bookings, reconciliations, payables and receivables, and support the monthly close. We're bringing accounting in-house, so you'll help build the finance function from the start. You'll learn quickly, work across nine markets and new entities, and take on more responsibility as you grow.

WHAT TO EXPECT

- Day-to-day accounting: Handle bookkeeping, AP/AR, bank and account reconciliations, and master data, accurately and on time.

- Monthly close: Prepare accruals, reconciliations and closing entries, and help shorten close cycles.

- Statutory filings: Prepare VAT returns, ZM, Intrastat and other recurring filings together with our tax advisors.

- In-house transition: Help move accounting from our external provider to an internal team, and document processes along the way.

- Revenue & billing: Reconcile Stripe and billing data with the ledger, and help make sure usage-based revenue is booked correctly.

- Multi-entity support: Support intercompany bookings and multi-currency accounting as UK and US entities come online.

- Audit & process improvement: Prepare documentation for year-end and audits, and find ways to automate repetitive work.

WHAT YOU BRING

MUST-HAVES

- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience (audit firm, tax advisor, or in-house), or a strong degree in accounting or finance with relevant internships.

- Solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and Austrian GAAP (UGB) basics.

- Working towards Bilanzbuchhalter, ACCA, CPA or similar.

- Familiar with BMD, DATEV, Xero or Stripe.

- Experience with VAT filings or month-end close.

- Very accurate and organized, and comfortable owning recurring deadlines.

- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.

- Fluent in English.

NICE-TO-HAVES

- German skills, which help with tax advisors and local filings.

- Experience at a tech, SaaS or fast-growing company.

- Experience with taxation in other European countries.
