The posting

Job Summary:

The Central Video Manager owns the video standard for Gateway Church — cameras, projection, LED, media servers, and screen graphics. This role sets the video standard every campus runs on, oversees video direction and content playback for Central services, and leads the Video Operators and CG Operators who execute it. It carries both the creative call of how a service is shot and the systems that make it possible.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

  • Owns video direction standards, camera systems, projection, LED, and media server health for Gateway Church
  • Leads and develops the Video Operators, CG Operators and Video Team Members
  • Oversees video direction for Central weekend services and events, including rehearsal notes and pre-service meetings
  • Owns video operations at the broadcast campus, and owns the video standard at all campuses
  • Manages the intake, organization and archiving of captured service content, and responds to requests from other departments for recordings, clips and archive content
  • Develops training benchmarks and protocols for camera operators, shaders, and video directors churchwide
  • Oversees day-to-day management of video systems and equipment, including troubleshooting, cleaning, maintenance, and firmware updates
  • Oversees loading, programming, and testing of video and graphic content for services and events
  • Serves as the point of contact for camera system installation and upkeep across campuses
  • Manages the video budget within the approved threshold and speaks into equipment lifecycle and capital requests
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and provides accountability for the video Serve Team
  • Personally directs or covers any video position as needed
  • Partners with Worship, Gateway Music, Lighting, Audio, and Broadcast so what the room sees and what the broadcast carries are both excellent, as well as at all extension campuses
  • Travels to campuses as needed to provide quality control, feedback, and coaching
  • Reviews the metrics for the area and makes decisions accordingly
  • Is present and serving at weekend services and churchwide events as the ministry calendar requires
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of the audio, video, lighting, and control systems at their location, not only the discipline they operate
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on the systems they work with
  • Diagnoses and resolves first-line faults across audio, video, and lighting rather than escalating by default, and escalates with a clear account of what has already been tested
  • Keeps system documentation, patch files, and show files current for their location
  • Participates in the training provided by the Systems Engineers and maintains the competence level agreed for the role
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

As a member of the Gateway Church team, this position is expected to support, recruit, and develop Serve Team members, and to serve alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise.

General Skills & Qualifications:

  • A clear passion for Jesus and a strong biblical foundation
  • Strong working knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems, live production workflow, and the engineering required to troubleshoot and keep systems operational
  • Able to maintain, support, and troubleshoot AVL systems independently, and to recognize when a fault needs an engineer
  • Willing to be trained and assessed to an agreed competence standard, and to keep that standard current as systems change
  • Deep technical knowledge of camera systems, switchers, projection, LED, and media servers
  • Strong video direction instincts for multi-camera live services
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical Team Members and Serve Teams
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across video hardware and software
  • Able to function at a high level of effectiveness and calm under live, high-pressure conditions
  • Strong planning and budget management skills
  • Comfortable holding others accountable with clarity and care
  • Demonstrated emotional and relational intelligence
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to hold several priorities at once
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn and function within new software and systems

Education/Certification(s):

  • Five or more years of professional video or broadcast experience — required
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical field — required
  • Experience directing multi-camera live services or broadcasts — preferred
  • Prior experience in a multisite church environment — preferred

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
