The posting

At Gigamon, our purpose is to protect the hybrid networks and data of the largest, most complex organizations on the planet. Certified as a Great Place to Work, we offer a deep observability pipeline that efficiently delivers network-derived intelligence to cloud, security, and observability tools. This helps our customers to eliminate security blind spots, optimize network traffic, and dramatically reduce tool cost and complexity, enabling them to better secure and manage their hybrid cloud infrastructure. Gigamon has served more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, 9 of the 10 largest mobile network providers, and hundreds of governments and educational organizations.

As a Senior SW QA Engineer on the GigaSMART team, you will lead quality assurance efforts for advanced security features in complex, high-performance networking products. You will design and build lab test beds, define and automate test strategies, and ensure our solutions meet rigorous security, performance, and scalability standards. In this role, you will collaborate closely with development, automation, and support teams to resolve field escalations and continuously improve product quality. Your work will directly impact the reliability and security of mission-critical deployments for our largest customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain lab test beds to validate complex security and networking features.
  • Create, review, and manage functional, performance, integration, and interoperability test cases and test suites.
  • Execute test plans with a strong focus on customer quality, including manual and automated test execution.
  • Develop and maintain automated test cases in parallel with manual testing, and work with the automation team to integrate them into the full regression test suite.
  • Investigate and reproduce field escalations by collaborating with support and development teams, and drive resolution of reported issues.
  • Create, reproduce, and manage bugs on a daily basis, ensuring clear documentation and tracking through closure.
  • Collaborate closely with development to drive efficient test progress and bug fix throughput.
  • Analyze hardware and software product architectures to design effective tests and understand implications for feature validation.
  • Characterize, analyze, and help resolve performance and scalability issues in complex deployments.
  • Serve as test project lead on occasion, owning QA deliverables and timelines for assigned projects.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers on QA processes, tools, and technologies.

What you’ve done:

  • Acquired 5+ years of hands-on QA testing experience in the security domain.
  • Strong expertise in VMware, Nutanix, or Openstack.
  • Built deep expertise in proxy, firewalls, IDS/IPS, data protection, encryption solutions, and authentication systems (such as LDAP and SAML).
  • Gained experience with enterprise and service provider network security deployments.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Internet and security protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and key management.
  • Planned and executed functional, performance, integration, and interoperability testing for complex products.
  • Created, implemented, and reviewed manual and automated test cases and comprehensive test suites.
  • Used test case management tools such as Mercury Quality Center, TestRail, or similar platforms.
  • Developed strong network configuration and troubleshooting skills in multi-layer, multi-vendor environments.
  • Utilized packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark and SnifferPro, and interpreted packet captures to diagnose issues.
  • Authored and maintained scripts in languages such as Python to support test automation and tooling.
  • Used bug tracking systems such as Bugzilla, Jira, or similar to manage defects and project progress.
  • Led or supported test or project leadership activities and contributed to mentoring junior QA engineers.
  • Earned at minimum a BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.

Who you are:

  • A strategic and analytical thinker who can translate complex security and networking architectures into effective test strategies.
  • A self-starter who is highly self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple concurrent tasks and priorities.
  • A collaborative team player who works effectively with development, automation, and support teams to drive product quality.
  • A detail-oriented engineer with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on delivering high-quality, customer-centric solutions.
  • An effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate findings and recommendations.
  • A mentor and role model who enjoys guiding junior engineers and elevating the overall quality culture of the team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
