Gigamon is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineering Technician to work with the HW engineering team on introducing new leading edge network security appliances to the market. The role will involve prototype planning, bring-up, validation, and helping coordinate JDM/ODM/OEM projects. Post product launch, support of the sustaining team will be part of the role. The Sr. Staff Engineering Technician will be part of a small, dynamic team and must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do

  • Provide support in components selection, procurement and qualification during prototype and post product launch phases.
  • Provide support during product bring up and qualification.
  • Manage prototypes across cross functional teams along with ensuring they are all at the latest revision.
  • Perform basic rework in the lab and/or coordinate product rework through contract manufacturers and/or third parties.
  • Work with engineering to support environmental and compliance testing and help ensure compliance certification is current.
  • Support in creating all product related documentation, including compliance certificates, MTBF and product manuals.
  • Provide support with product sustaining by helping create test setups and scripts to help triage failures.

What you’ve done:

  • Associate degree or higher
  • Basic board-level test and debug skills
  • Soldering skills
  • Basic OS/Linux and automation scripting skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams, including HW, SW and manufacturing.
  • Willingness to learn and help in any area of product development and bring up beyond the ones listed in the responsibilities section.

Who you are:

  • Strong engineering technician with an associate degree and 6-8 years of lab experience looking to grow into a broader, more technical role, or an entry level with a degree in electrical engineering and hands on lab experience.

The base salary compensation range targeted for this role is expected to be between $92,000 - $115,000 (subject to terms and conditions of the plan). This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
