Job Description
HawkTechs provides student support services that directly affect student success at the college by offering individualized assistance for various academic technology tools. This assistance is available in person and online. The individual hired for this position will manage computer technology in the library and provide direct student technical support, ensuring a professional and service-oriented approach. Responsibilities include technology research, coordination of technology projects, and organizing tasks, requiring independent judgment and discretion.
Job Duties:
Provide responsive problem-solving for common student technology questions and issues within the campus library and online, including but not limited to:
- Administering laptop loaner program
- Individualized training and instruction
- Laptop management including reimaging and sanitization
- Check-in/Check-out
- Research and utilize new and emerging technology tools and techniques used for academic purposes
- NetID/Password and Microsoft Authenticator
- Printing, copying, scanning (HawkPrint)
- Wireless access from student devices
- Navigating MyHCC (WebAdvisor, Canvas, Hawkmail)
- Navigating the HCC Website, including Student SharePoint Resources
- Microsoft 365 – download and installation on student devices
- Hotspots, webcams, and headsets
- Online conferencing tools (Teams)
- Etrieve (various online forms that students must initiate)
- Referrals and recommendations for training (LinkedIn Learning)
- Various technology and media equipment
- Refer students to librarians, campus computer labs, tutoring centers, Help Desk, and other departments as appropriate.
Position Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Knowledge of technology tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
- Microsoft Office experience
Preferred:
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Experience providing end-user support for academic technology applications
