Job Purpose

The QC Inspector – Dimensional is responsible for inspecting the dimensions of castings and forgings against customer specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable standards at various stages of the casting process. The role ensures that product dimensions meet customer requirements and supports quality control through dimensional inspection, documentation, non-conformance follow-up, and corrective action coordination.

Key Responsibilities

1. Dimensional Inspection

  • Carry out dimensional inspection of castings and forgings according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Measure and verify product dimensions in accordance with ISO 8062 standards, customer requirements, or applicable drawings.
  • Conduct visual inspections of sample castings and forgings.
  • Perform dimensional audit inspections of bulk castings and forgings.
  • Ensure casting markings and lettering comply with customer drawings and specifications.

2. Inspection Equipment and Calibration

  • Maintain measuring and testing equipment in the inspection area.
  • Ensure inspection equipment has valid calibration status.
  • Operate dimensional inspection equipment correctly and maintain measurement accuracy.

3. Quality Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain dimensional inspection reports and related quality documents.
  • Record dimensional deviations and non-conformities accurately.
  • Follow up on dimensional corrections identified in inspection reports.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of dimensional-related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

4. Corrective Actions and Coordination

  • Coordinate with relevant departments to address dimensional deviations in castings.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and verify dimensional corrections.
  • Assist the QC Engineer in developing dimensional inspection standards.

5. Standards and Compliance

  • Ensure dimensional inspections comply with applicable customer requirements and ISO 8062 standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Apply relevant ISO, ASME, and ASTM standards related to dimensional and visual inspection.

Job Requirements

Education

  • ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a similar qualification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in dimensional inspection.
  • Experience in the steel casting or forging industry is mandatory.
  • Experience in Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection and programming is preferred.

Certifications

  • ASNT Level II certification in visual inspection is referenced in the source JD; the mandatory status should be confirmed.
  • ASNT Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in operating dimensional inspection equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of ISO, ASME, and ASTM standards related to dimensional and visual inspection.
  • Knowledge of moulding and core assembly is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety- and quality-focused mindset.

Contract and Benefits

  • Contract Duration: 2 years.
  • Working Schedule: 8 hours per day, 6 days per week.
  • Overtime: Applicable.
  • Annual Leave: 30 days of paid annual leave upon completion of 11 months of service.
  • Annual Leave Travel Benefit: Air ticket or applicable ticket allowance as per company policy.
  • Joining Air Ticket: Provided by the company.
