The posting

A career in IBM Consulting is built on long-term client relationships and close collaboration worldwide. You'll work with leading companies across industries, helping them shape their hybrid cloud and AI journeys. With support from our strategic partners, robust IBM technology, and Red Hat, you'll have the tools to drive meaningful change and accelerate client impact. At IBM Consulting, curiosity fuels success. You'll be encouraged to challenge the norm, explore new ideas, and create innovative solutions that deliver real results. Our culture of growth and empathy focuses on your long-term career development while valuing your unique skills and experiences.

What this internship is about

Join our consulting team and help shape experiences that people actually enjoy using. This internship gives you the chance to explore how good design improves the way customers, employees and users interact with products and processes.

You’ll join a cohort of interns working in small cross functional teams on real client challenges within one of our consulting sectors. Supported, coached, and mentored by consultants from across the UK business throughout the programme, your team will take ownership of a standalone project, exploring ideas, solving problems and adapting as the work evolves.

Because our projects are collaborative and fast moving, there isn’t one fixed role from day one. Instead, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute in different ways depending on the challenge, the client, your interests and where you can add the most value. Alongside your project work, you’ll gain exposure to different teams, consulting disciplines and ways of working across the IBM organisation.

Whether your interests are in user experience, service design, research, visual communication or creative problem solving, this internship offers hands on experience working as part of a consulting project team.

We work collaboratively in a fast-moving environment, where roles and responsibilities evolve organically based on the needs of each project.

What you might do

• Help gather and organise user or customer insights through research activities

• Support journey mapping, idea generation and creative problem solving

• Participate in workshops, design sessions or collaborative team activities

• Help communicate insights, concepts or findings clearly and visually

• Explore ways to improve customer, employee or digital experiences

• Contribute ideas to improve services, processes or user interactions

• Present findings, concepts or recommendations in engaging and accessible ways

Your experience will vary depending on the project, giving you the opportunity to learn from different people, approaches and ways of working.

What you’ll get

• Hands on experience working on a real consulting project from start to finish

• Exposure to experience design, research and collaborative ways of working

• Opportunities to learn from consultants across different teams and disciplines

• Mentoring, coaching and support from consultants, buddies and early careers teams

• A collaborative environment where creativity, curiosity and initiative are encouraged

• A clearer sense of whether a career in experience design or consulting is right for you

If you’re excited by creativity, collaboration and solving real world problems, we’d love to see your application.

Who you are

• Students due to graduate in 2027 or 2028

• Already able to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)

• Studying a design related degree

• Able to provide a portfolio showcasing your work, ideas or creative process

• Curious about people, design and user experiences

• Creative thinker who can communicate ideas clearly and visually

• Collaborative, adaptable and open to feedback

• Interested in problem solving and user centred thinking

• Excited to learn new tools, approaches and ways of working

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
