The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.       What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn-t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.      This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).      As a  HiL Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of complex dynamic Hardware-in-the-loop environments, taking into account the overall progress of the project and its requirements. In your role, you will oversee the development of real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, with a particular focus on the power electronic domain. Here, you can develop digital twin models of  the Audi F1 power unit, including the high-voltage battery and power electronics, and test the ECU software before it hits the track. The combination of high performance and competition is what drives innovation and technology transfer. Take the leap into the pinnacle of motorsport  and be a part of an ambitious team.

Your Mission ##

  • Creating HiL models (MATLAB/Simulink) based on component level of the Formula 1 power unit (hybrid system) and integrating it in a full digital-twin vehicle model for the purpose of real-time lap simulation
  • Responsible for the hardware integration of HIL components dedicated to the power electronics domain of the F1 Power Unit
  • Development of real-time models (MATLAB/Simulink) related to power electronic components (HV battery, e-motor, inverter)
  • Developing interface models (MATLAB/Simulink) to link control units with real-time systems (CAN, I/O)
  • Embedded software testing and validation of Battery Management System (BMS) and inverter ECUs on HiL systems
  • Data analysis to validate the functionality and correlation level of digital-twin PU models
  • Test automation development
  • Creating simple and complex measuring set-ups to validate the HiL configuration
  • Collaborate with the Software Controls Team in HiL daily operations
  • Provide HiL support during race events in Audi F1 Mission Control

Your Profile ##

  • Successfully completed studies in the field of electrical / electrotechnical / power electronics engineering, mechatronics or a comparable course of study
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink with a focus on scripting and modelling real-time targets
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop real-time systems (ideally Speedgoat)
  • Experience with modern vehicle control units, their connection and signal processing (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, analogue and digital signal generation and processing)
  • Previous experience with Battery Management System (BMS) ECUs and/or electric e-motor inverters
  • Knowledge about modern hybrid powertrains and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Knowledge of application tools such as the Motion Applied toolchain (e.g. System Monitor, ATLAS) and ETAS INCA
  • Experience with using agile work methods (scrum) and Git workflows
  • High level of proactivity in problem-solving
  • Critical thinking in proposing and evaluating new development ideas
  • A targeted, independent and structured approach to work
  • Strong implementation skills and a high level of motivation and personal initiative

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
