Medical Director - International Launch & Medical Strategy ##
Cardiometabolic / Cardiovascular | International Scope
An innovative, international biopharmaceutical organisation is seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead medical strategy for a major upcoming launch within the cardiometabolic space.
This is a highly visible international role, responsible for driving launch strategy and execution across a diverse region of local affiliates. The Medical Director will act as the critical link between global strategy and local market execution, ensuring affiliate Medical teams are aligned, prepared and equipped to deliver a successful launch.
The successful candidate will bring expertise within lipidology, diabetology, cardiovascular medicine or a closely related cardiometabolic field, alongside a strong track record of leading major pharmaceutical launches across multiple countries and affiliates.
The Role ###
As Medical Director, you will lead the regional medical launch strategy and work directly with local affiliate Medical teams to translate overarching strategy into impactful, market-specific execution.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading regional medical strategy and launch readiness for a high-priority cardiometabolic asset.
- Driving launch strategy and execution across multiple countries and local affiliates within an international region.
- Translating global medical strategy into clear, actionable affiliate launch plans, tailored to individual market needs.
- Partnering closely with local Medical Directors and Medical Affairs teams to assess readiness, identify gaps and ensure successful execution.
- Providing strategic direction, challenge and support to affiliates throughout the pre-launch, launch and post-launch phases.
- Ensuring consistency of medical strategy across the region while recognising differences in local healthcare systems, scientific landscapes and market needs.
- Driving scientific engagement with leading external experts, investigators and healthcare stakeholders.
- Partnering closely with Global Medical, Clinical Development, Market Access and Commercial teams.
- Acting as a senior medical leader and subject-matter expert throughout a strategically important international launch.
Your Background ###
We are looking for an established Medical Affairs leader with:
- Significant pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience within lipidology, diabetology, cardiovascular medicine or cardiometabolic disease.
- Strong international or regional Medical Affairs experience, with responsibility for multiple countries and affiliate teams.
- A proven track record of driving launch strategy at local affiliate level across a region, rather than solely developing strategy at global level.
- Experience successfully translating global strategy into local execution, adapting plans to the needs and maturity of individual markets.
- A strong record of launching major or blockbuster therapies across multiple international markets.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and challenge local Medical teams without necessarily having direct reporting-line responsibility.
- Strong experience engaging senior external experts and navigating sophisticated scientific stakeholder environments.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership skills within complex international matrix organisations.
- An MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent advanced scientific/medical qualification is highly desirable.
The Opportunity ###
This is an opportunity to take a leading medical role behind a major international launch in an area of significant unmet need.
You will sit at the intersection of global strategy and local affiliate execution, with significant responsibility for ensuring markets across the region are positioned for launch success.
For a Medical Affairs leader with strong cardiometabolic expertise who has successfully driven launches through local affiliates across multiple international markets, this is an opportunity to have a significant impact on a strategically important launch.
