Join Roche, where every voice matters.The PositionThe Institute of Human Biology (IHB), embedded within Roche-s Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) Division, is a leading research institute focused on accelerating the development of transformative medicines. It specializes in developing novel and robust human model systems that functionally resemble human physiology and disease. By bridging the gap between academic discovery and industrial application, IHB facilitates the rapid translation of groundbreaking science into patient-focused solutions. The OpportunityAs part of a newly funded IHB fellowship, you will drive an ambitious research program at the interface of organoid biology, vascular biology, and bioengineering, with the goal of creating translationally relevant systems for drug discovery and safety. In this role, you will define innovative approaches to uncover the biological principles of vascular-parenchymal interaction in the context of kidney development, ultimately helping to establish a new class of human model systems through the following responsibilities:Drive the development of vascularized iPSC-derived kidney organoids, with a focus on tissue specification and maturationDevelop and optimize engineered culture systems to enable vascular perfusion and promote kidney organoid maturationWork closely with stem cell biologists to dissect nephron maturation and cell-cell communication Translate biological insights into functional, predictive models relevant for human kidney safety Who You AreA scientist with a PhD and a strong track record in iPSC-derived 3D tissue models or organoids.
