The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI First Sr. Android Developer based in the United States.

We are looking for an experienced Android developer to build, enhance, and scale high-impact mobile experiences for a digital marketplace. You will develop customer-facing applications supporting both buyers and sellers, helping deliver seamless, reliable, and intuitive mobile journeys. As a senior engineer, you will influence technical architecture, modernize existing systems, and establish high standards for code quality, testing, and performance. AI-powered development tools will be an integral part of your daily workflow, accelerating delivery and improving engineering efficiency without compromising technical judgment. You will collaborate closely with product, design, iOS, backend, platform, and QA teams to deliver consistent cross-platform experiences. This remote opportunity offers the chance to contribute to large-scale technology modernization and AI-driven engineering initiatives while mentoring colleagues and driving meaningful product improvements.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and release high-quality Android features for buyer and seller marketplace applications, ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and excellent user experiences.
  • Lead technical decisions concerning Android architecture, multi-module application design, modern Jetpack Compose interfaces, and the integration of legacy UI components.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of shared mobile capabilities, including authentication and OpenID Connect (OIDC), feature flags, analytics, navigation, and core application infrastructure.
  • Strengthen engineering standards by implementing comprehensive unit and UI testing, improving test coverage, maintaining code quality, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of features, from initial design discussions and implementation through release, production monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization.
  • Integrate AI-powered development tools into everyday engineering workflows, including code generation, refactoring, test creation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate AI-generated solutions critically, ensuring that all delivered code meets production standards for security, maintainability, correctness, and performance.
  • Mentor intermediate engineers, share technical expertise, and encourage continuous learning, sound engineering judgment, and responsible adoption of emerging development tools.
  • Collaborate with iOS engineers to align product functionality across platforms and work with product managers, designers, backend engineers, platform teams, and QA specialists to deliver business-focused solutions.
  • Support application distribution and release management through Google Play, Firebase, and relevant testing infrastructure, ensuring stable releases and effective production observability.
  • At least 5 years of professional Android development experience, or equivalent depth of expertise, with demonstrated success building and maintaining production mobile applications at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and proven experience developing, publishing, and supporting Android applications through the Google Play Store.
  • Solid understanding of mobile engineering principles, including application architecture, concurrency, networking, offline scenarios, edge cases, performance optimization, and production reliability.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-module Android architectures, dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt, Kotlin coroutines, StateFlow, unidirectional UI patterns, navigation, and WorkManager.
  • Familiarity with modern Android technologies, particularly Jetpack Compose and Material 3, as well as legacy implementations using XML layouts, Fragments, and ViewBinding.
  • Experience with networking and data persistence libraries such as Retrofit, OkHttp, and Room, alongside feature flags, experimentation, product analytics, crash reporting, and application monitoring.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD workflows, automated testing, code reviews, release management, and production observability. Experience with camera, media, scanning workflows, or other device capabilities is an advantage.
  • A strong AI-first mindset, demonstrated through daily use of AI development tools such as coding copilots, AI-assisted debugging tools, and automated test generators. You must be able to validate AI-generated outputs critically rather than relying on them without review.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a product-oriented mindset, a sense of ownership, and the ability to connect technical decisions to customer needs and business objectives.
  • Adaptability and technical curiosity, with a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to evaluate new technologies and development practices in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Experience delivering Jetpack Compose applications at scale and modernizing legacy Android applications, including migrations from XML and Fragments to Compose or from RxJava to Kotlin coroutines.
  • Background in digital marketplaces, wholesale, auctions, or high-volume transactional mobile applications.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing iOS/Swift pull requests, or contributing to cross-platform technical alignment.
  • Familiarity with BrowserStack, device farms, automated UI testing, or hybrid application experiences using WebViews.
  • Competitive compensation: Salary based on experience, technical skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors. The source listing contains an inconsistent compensation range, so the exact US salary range should be confirmed with the hiring team.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options.
  • Retirement savings: Immediately vested 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Paid time off: Paid vacation, personal days, and sick leave.
  • Family support: Paid maternity and paternity leave.
  • Financial protection: Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage.
  • Employee well-being: Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.
  • Community engagement: An employer-paid volunteer day dedicated to community service.
  • Professional development: Tuition reimbursement for eligible educational programs and opportunities to develop new technical skills.
  • Career advancement: Opportunities for internal promotion, diverse career paths, knowledge sharing, and long-term professional growth within a global organization.
  • Remote work: A full-time remote position based in the United States.
  • Innovative engineering environment: The opportunity to work with experienced engineers and product leaders on large-scale mobile applications, platform modernization, and AI-powered development practices.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
