In this role, you will facilitate essential, real-time communication by providing seamless audio and video interpretation between German and English speakers across a wide range of settings. Operating in a fully remote environment, you will play a pivotal role in empowering Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and breaking down critical language barriers on demand. Utilizing a modern, web-based platform, you will deliver empathetic customer service while handling inbound calls with high precision and professionalism. This opportunity allows you to leverage your linguistic expertise in an award-winning, flexible setting where your accuracy directly impacts lives. Working independently from a quiet, dedicated home workspace, you will uphold strict confidentiality and professional interpretation standards at all times. Accountabilities:

  • Audio & Video Interpretation: Deliver accurate, consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation in real time between German and English via a secure web-based platform.
  • Inbound Call Management: Respond promptly and professionally to on-demand inbound audio and video calls across diverse sectors and scenarios.
  • Client & LEP Support: Serve as a vital bridge for the Limited English Proficient (LEP) community, ensuring empathetic, culturally sensitive, and high-quality customer service.
  • Confidentiality & Ethics: Strictly adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct, upholding rigorous standards of privacy, neutrality, and information security.
  • Protocol & Quality Compliance: Consistently follow professional interpretation protocols, industry-specific best practices, and standard operational procedures.
  • Language Proficiency: Complete, bilingual fluency in both German and English (oral comprehension, speaking, and written skills).
  • Interpreting Experience: 1+ years of professional interpretation experience in healthcare, legal, or customer service environments preferred.
  • Professional Certification: Industry-recognized certifications or specialized interpretation training (e.g., CMI, CCHI, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including familiarity with web-based communication platforms, email applications, and basic office software.
  • Workspace Setup: A dedicated, quiet, and secure home workspace free from background noise and distractions to ensure complete confidentiality.
  • Soft Skills: Outstanding active listening skills, professional demeanor, emotional intelligence, and the ability to handle high-pressure communication scenarios with patience.
