This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced data and business intelligence professional working at the intersection of analytics, engineering, and business strategy. You will solve complex business problems by transforming internal and external data into reliable, actionable insights for decision-makers. The role sits within a growth-focused analytics and AI environment and offers significant ownership over modern data solutions. You will work extensively with SQL, Python/PySpark, Databricks, and production-grade data pipelines. Your expertise will help improve data quality, engineering efficiency, scalability, and the reliability of analytics products. You’ll collaborate with business, project management, and technical teams while communicating insights and technical concepts to senior and executive leaders. The position is ideal for someone who combines strong engineering discipline with business judgment and excellent communication skills.
Accountabilities
- Solve complex and varied business problems by analyzing data from internal and external sources and translating findings into actionable insights for decision-makers.
- Develop and maintain advanced data solutions using Python/PySpark, SQL, and Databricks.
- Build and optimize production-grade data pipelines with enforced schemas, validation gates, structured error logging, and reliable operational controls.
- Refactor and optimize Python/PySpark codebases to improve performance, maintainability, scalability, and reliability.
- Design and implement Databricks solutions using capabilities such as Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, scheduled jobs and workflows, and service principal authentication.
- Develop advanced SQL solutions, including stored procedure execution and read/write integration with SQL Server systems of record.
- Apply Git-based engineering practices, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
- Translate business and project requirements into effective technical solutions while bridging communication between business stakeholders, project teams, and technical teams.
- Contribute to data engineering and analytics modernization through improved orchestration, data quality, observability, and engineering practices.
- Communicate complex findings, technical approaches, and recommendations clearly to senior and executive leadership.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure data solutions align with business priorities and deliver reliable, measurable value.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of technical experience in data analysis, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Advanced Python/PySpark expertise, including experience optimizing and refactoring production code.
- Advanced Databricks experience, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, scheduled jobs/workflows, and service principal authentication.
- Proven experience building production data pipelines with enforced schemas, validation controls, structured error logging, and operational reliability.
- Advanced SQL skills, including stored procedures and integration with SQL Server systems of record.
- Strong understanding of Git-based software engineering practices, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and translate requirements between business stakeholders, project management, and technical teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly when presenting to senior and executive leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities with the capacity to work independently on complex assignments.
- Willingness to learn and become proficient across multiple systems, policies, tools, and business processes.
- Commitment to remain in the position for at least 12 months before applying for other internal opportunities.
- Preferred advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience with ETL and orchestration technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, dbt, Delta Live Tables, or Lakeflow.
- Preferred experience with data quality frameworks, pipeline monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and incident runbooks.
- Familiarity with front-end development using TypeScript, Angular, or React, including component architecture and REST API consumption, is a plus.
- Knowledge of ontology or knowledge-graph modeling using technologies such as LinkML, RDF/OWL, SHACL, or equivalent approaches is advantageous.
- Fully remote position available nationwide across the United States.
- Base salary range of $117,600–$161,700 per year, depending on qualifications, skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors.
