This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Certified Procedural Coding Specialist based in the United States.
This fully remote role supports accurate and compliant outpatient healthcare coding by interpreting clinical documentation and translating diagnoses and procedures into appropriate codes. You will play an important role in ensuring medical records support the services provided and that coding is complete, accurate, and aligned with established standards. The position combines clinical knowledge, coding expertise, and strong attention to detail. You will work with outpatient encounter records and patient accounting systems while managing daily work queues efficiently. Accountabilities
- Review and interpret health record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures relevant to outpatient encounters.
- Assess whether clinical documentation adequately supports all assigned diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and diagnostic and procedural terminology to assign accurate codes.
- Maintain current knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems and apply them consistently.
- Review and perform data and charge entry within hospital and physician patient accounting systems for outpatient clinic visits.
- Organize and prioritize assigned work queues to ensure all required records are reviewed and processed daily.
- Maintain accuracy, completeness, and integrity throughout the coding and data-entry process.
- Perform additional duties and support related coding activities as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- An active or qualifying certification such as CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA is required.
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems and their application to outpatient healthcare encounters.
- Strong understanding of clinical terminology and the ability to interpret medical documentation accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail with a consistent focus on coding accuracy and documentation integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage daily work queues and competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
- At least two years of professional coding experience is preferred.
