The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineering and Delivery Manager based in the United States.

This role combines data engineering leadership with delivery management to build reliable, secure, and scalable data capabilities. You’ll lead a distributed engineering team while overseeing a strategic data platform roadmap and high-impact modernization initiatives. The position sits at the intersection of technology, business intelligence, governance, and business operations. You’ll establish effective intake and prioritization processes, ensuring resources are aligned with the organization’s most valuable needs. The role offers significant ownership over Agile delivery, team development, data platform reliability, and stakeholder communication. You’ll work across technology and business functions to remove delivery barriers, improve transparency, and continuously strengthen ways of working. Success will be measured through dependable data solutions, predictable delivery, strong team performance, and measurable business value.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop a distributed Data Engineering team across multiple countries and time zones, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, career development, and workload planning.
  • Own the Data Engineering roadmap and oversee delivery of major initiatives, including cloud data warehouse modernization, CI/CD improvements, and data readiness for enterprise platform launches.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of data pipelines and warehouse environments.
  • Maintain clear ownership for production data feeds and pipelines while establishing cross-training plans that reduce operational dependency on individual team members.
  • Partner with data governance and Business Intelligence leadership to establish consistent engineering standards, source control, deployment practices, and data governance.
  • Ensure engineering practices comply with applicable data handling, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and manage a centralized intake process for reporting and data requests, ensuring requests have clear ownership, business purpose, scope, and acceptance criteria before work begins.
  • Maintain a single prioritized backlog across Business Intelligence and Data Engineering, balancing business value, team capacity, technical debt, defects, and delivery timelines.
  • Make and communicate prioritization and capacity trade-offs clearly to stakeholders, including the rationale behind delivery decisions.
  • Manage handoffs between Business Intelligence and Data Engineering, ensuring responsibilities, ownership, status, and next steps remain visible throughout delivery.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, while removing impediments and escalating significant delivery risks.
  • Maintain Azure DevOps configuration, templates, documentation, and team wiki resources in alignment with the operating model.
  • Track and communicate delivery health metrics such as cycle time, capacity, defect rates, queue length, unplanned work, and backlog health.
  • Represent the data function in enterprise project and planning meetings, communicating intake requirements, priorities, capacity, risks, and delivery expectations to business and technology leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, analytics delivery, or related disciplines, including cloud data platforms and data warehouse development.
  • 2–4 years of experience leading or managing technical teams, including direct-report performance management.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, or similar role supporting data, analytics, or internal technology teams.
  • Demonstrated experience owning intake, backlog management, prioritization, and delivery decisions in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing or maturing Agile operating models and managing work through Azure DevOps, Jira, or an equivalent platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery practices, including Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban, and experience facilitating ceremonies and managing flow metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Python, SQL, REST APIs, source control, CI/CD, modern data warehousing, and ELT practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce data sources, preferably including platforms such as Litify, Service Cloud, or Revenue Cloud.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical and business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, delivery plans, and concise status updates.
  • Strong decision-making and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance technical considerations, business priorities, capacity, and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain distributed technical teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, and inclusion.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across technology, product, operations, finance, marketing, legal, and executive teams.
  • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Experience in legal services, professional services, or another regulated industry is required.
  • Professional Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Master, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment, provide transparent status reporting, and communicate risks or difficult decisions clearly.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Employer-paid life and disability insurance.
  • Health Savings Account options with employer contributions.
  • Flexible working-time options.
  • Employee wellness and assistance resources.
  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Monday–Friday schedule, generally 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
  • Opportunity to lead a distributed data engineering function and influence data strategy, delivery practices, and platform modernization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
