This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DB2 System Admin based in the United States.

This fully remote role is responsible for maintaining DB2 software and database environments on IBM mainframe platforms running z/OS. You’ll help ensure systems remain secure, supported, documented, and compliant with applicable STIG and SRG requirements. The position combines hands-on database administration with software installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance. You’ll provide technical support on DB2-related questions and issues across mission-critical mainframe environments. The role also contributes to database migrations and application software upgrades while following established operational procedures. Success requires strong attention to security, documentation, change management, and reliable execution in a regulated environment. Accountabilities

  • Maintain DB2 software and associated environments on IBM z/OS mainframe platforms in accordance with STIG and/or SRG requirements.
  • Keep software on vendor-supported versions and apply required security patches within established timeframes.
  • Maintain required security, configuration, operational, and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain software exits associated with supported software, regardless of the programming language used to develop them.
  • Provide technical services and guidance regarding DB2 software, including questions, issues, changes, and upgrades.
  • Report customer questions and related technical matters to the appropriate Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Install, customize, upgrade, and maintain DB2 software on mainframe computer platforms.
  • Participate in planning and executing database migrations and application software upgrades or migrations.
  • Follow documented departmental standard operating procedures and ensure work is completed according to established processes.
  • Maintain accurate tickets, change requests, technical records, and other required documentation.
  • Use SMP/E to install and maintain software for execution within IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in database administration, mainframe systems, or a closely related technical field.
  • Associate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on knowledge of DB2 environments and IBM mainframe platforms running z/OS.
  • Experience with DB2 software installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and migration activities.
  • Working knowledge of SMP/E for installing and maintaining software on IBM mainframe systems.
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements applicable to enterprise or government technology environments, including STIG and/or SRG frameworks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, respond to customer questions, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and change-management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate tickets and technical records.
  • Ability to follow established procedures while identifying and addressing operational or technical issues.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • IAT Level I certification required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment while collaborating with technical and customer stakeholders.
