This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Revenue Accounting based in the United States.
This is a senior finance leadership role responsible for scaling global revenue accounting, commissions, billing, and accounts receivable operations. You will own the end-to-end revenue lifecycle, from contract structuring and quote review through recognition, invoicing, collections, and cash application. The role sits at the intersection of Accounting, Finance, Legal, Sales, Revenue Operations, and Professional Services. You will ensure complex customer arrangements are handled efficiently while maintaining compliance with ASC 606 and ASC 340. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of processes, controls, systems, audits, and financial reporting. You will provide senior leaders with actionable insights into revenue performance, collections, cash flow, and financial predictability. This fully remote opportunity is suited to an experienced SaaS revenue accounting leader who thrives in a fast-moving, globally distributed environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead, develop, and scale high-performing teams across revenue accounting, commissions, quote analysis, and accounts receivable.
- Own the application of ASC 606 and ASC 340 across SaaS, professional services, and usage-based revenue models.
- Manage the complete revenue lifecycle, including pre-deal structuring, quote review, contract assessment, revenue recognition, billing, collections, commissions, and cash application.
- Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, Legal, Professional Services, and Finance to evaluate complex contracts and advise on revenue, billing, tax, commission, and go-to-market implications.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve revenue, billing, accounts receivable, and commission accounting policies, controls, reporting, and procedures.
- Lead commissions accounting, including accruals, payouts, and alignment between bookings, commissions, and recognized revenue.
- Own billing and collections strategy, with a focus on improving DSO, cash flow, cash application, and purchase-order or customer-portal compliance.
- Drive audit readiness and coordinate external audits across multiple international entities and complex transactions.
- Provide executive leadership with clear, actionable insights into revenue performance, accounts receivable, collections, and financial trends.
- Support strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, revenue predictability, financial planning, and board reporting.
- Improve quote-to-cash processes, systems, and controls to support scalable growth and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation and emerging technologies to improve accounting workflows and quote-to-cash operations.
- 10+ years of experience across revenue accounting, commissions, quoting, and accounts receivable, preferably within a SaaS environment.
- Deep expertise in ASC 606, ASC 340, and subscription-based revenue recognition models.
- Strong experience owning billing and collections, including DSO management, cash application, and cash-flow optimization.
- Strong understanding of quote-to-cash processes and systems, including Salesforce/CPQ and NetSuite.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams across multiple revenue-related accounting functions.
- Demonstrated experience partnering effectively with Finance, Sales, Revenue Operations, Legal, Professional Services, and executive leadership.
- Experience building and scaling accounting processes, policies, controls, and systems in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, particularly when advising on complex transactions and business decisions.
- Experience working with complex deal structures, including pricing arrangements, multi-entity transactions, and global operations, preferred.
- CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Experience leading combined Revenue Accounting, Commissions, Quote Review, and Accounts Receivable functions preferred.
- Experience applying AI, automation, or other technology solutions to improve quote-to-cash systems and processes preferred.
- Fully remote position within the United States.
