The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Service Engineer - STS, RTG, RMG Cranes based in United States.

This role is responsible for servicing, repairing, testing, and maintaining heavy-duty port crane equipment in demanding field environments. You will diagnose mechanical and equipment issues, complete repairs and overhauls, and ensure machinery performs safely and according to technical specifications. The position combines hands-on mechanical expertise with customer support, technical documentation, and troubleshooting. You will work independently on complex assignments while collaborating with customers, technicians, and internal teams. Extensive domestic and international travel provides exposure to diverse operational environments and equipment challenges. The role also offers opportunities to share technical knowledge, mentor colleagues, and take on temporary leadership responsibilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Test mechanical products and heavy equipment following repairs or modifications to verify performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose equipment defects and malfunctions through inspection, testing, listening, and the use of diagnostic tools such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Repair or replace damaged and worn components, dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools, and perform equipment overhauls.
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and verification of component dimensions and clearances.
  • Read and interpret operating and parts manuals, blueprints, technical drawings, and other service documentation to prepare for and complete assigned work.
  • Prepare for field assignments by verifying parts, drawings, tools, and required documentation, and complete jobs independently with limited assistance.
  • Maintain accurate work reports, timesheets, hour reports, expense reports, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain quality standards through visual and mechanical inspections and ensure all work follows established safety procedures.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials, including oils, antifreeze, transmission fluids, cleaners, and other regulated maintenance waste, in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Develop working knowledge of crane management software and stay current with technical updates, service literature, and manufacturer changes.
  • Provide customers with troubleshooting assistance and support regarding equipment and replacement parts when needed.
  • Maintain the tools, machines, equipment, and service resources required for effective field performance.
  • Complete factory-authorized training and participate in additional technical training sessions as required.
  • Serve as a temporary lead when needed and train or mentor other members of the department.
  • Promote a professional, positive, safety-focused working environment and serve as a role model for colleagues.
  • High school diploma or GED required, with at least 5 years of direct experience working as a technician on Liebherr port equipment.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, inspection, and equipment diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply technical manuals, parts documentation, blueprints, drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Comfortable using diagnostic instruments and technology to identify mechanical and equipment-related faults.
  • Ability to work independently, manage assigned field jobs, maintain accurate documentation, and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to assist customers with troubleshooting and parts-related questions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and passport.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call assignments when required.
  • Commitment to established safety, quality, environmental, and hazardous-material handling procedures.
  • Ability to maintain the required personal tools and care for company-provided tools, equipment, and service resources.
  • Willingness to develop technical expertise, complete required training, and mentor or support other technicians.
  • Hourly pay range of $29.92–$52.30.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Paid vacation and personal days.
  • Stable work environment within an international organization.
  • Extensive exposure to port crane equipment, field service operations, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Opportunities for ongoing factory-authorized training and professional development.
  • Significant domestic and international travel, providing experience across diverse customer and operational environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
