The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field System Engineer – East Valley/Phoenix Metro based in the United States.

This role offers an opportunity to support critical diagnostic and laboratory systems that help customers maintain reliable, high-quality operations. As a Field System Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical support across an assigned territory, troubleshooting complex equipment and ensuring systems perform to specification. You will work directly with customers to deliver responsive service, conduct installations and repairs, and strengthen long-term customer relationships. The position combines technical expertise, independent fieldwork, and collaboration with sales and service teams to improve customer satisfaction and support business growth. You will manage your schedule, equipment, and service documentation while traveling extensively throughout the region and, when needed, nationwide. This opportunity is ideal for a technically skilled, adaptable professional who enjoys solving problems in a customer-facing environment.

Accountabilities

  • Installation and technical support: Install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair customer instruments using appropriate electronic, computer, and diagnostic tools to ensure equipment operates according to specifications.
  • Customer service and relationship management: Respond promptly to customer needs, deliver a high-quality service experience, build customer trust, and communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Preventive maintenance and service revenue: Promote service agreements, identify opportunities for additional services, and support revenue growth through billable activities such as preventive maintenance and equipment relocation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate with service, sales, applications, and customer support teams to resolve technical issues, improve service delivery, and identify opportunities to enhance the customer experience.
  • Training and technical development: Complete approximately 6–9 weeks of product training during the first year at designated training locations, with additional training as required.
  • Field travel and on-call support: Conduct scheduled and unscheduled customer visits, travel overnight when necessary, and participate in a weekend and holiday on-call rotation approximately every five weeks.
  • Documentation and compliance: Complete service work orders, quality assurance checklists, training records, and other required documentation accurately and on time, following established quality procedures and standards.
  • Scheduling and expense reporting: Maintain an accurate calendar of availability, manage customer appointments efficiently, and submit travel expense reports within required deadlines.
  • Equipment and inventory management: Maintain the assigned vehicle, spare parts inventory, laptop, tools, testing equipment, and other company-issued assets in good condition and in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Professional representation and continuous improvement: Represent the organization professionally at customer sites and industry events, provide feedback to sales and marketing teams, and continuously develop technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical Science, or a related field. Candidates without a bachelor’s degree must have at least six years of relevant troubleshooting or repair experience in place of the degree.
  • Technical experience: At least two years of professional experience troubleshooting or repairing complex electromechanical, electronic, computer, or electrical systems in a commercial, industrial, or military environment.
  • Relevant technical background: Experience with biomedical equipment, vacuum systems, host/remote communications, networking systems, or similar technologies is preferred. Familiarity with clinical laboratory environments and laboratory operations is an advantage.
  • Field service experience: Previous experience in a field service role is preferred, particularly experience working independently, managing schedules, communicating with customers, and resolving technical issues without direct supervision.
  • Customer and communication skills: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to build customer relationships, manage expectations, and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Demonstrated critical thinking, troubleshooting, adaptability, organization, time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail: Commitment to accurate documentation, high-quality work, compliance with procedures, and consistent professional conduct.
  • Digital proficiency: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
  • Independence and teamwork: Ability to work with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams and shared service objectives.
  • Driving requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
  • Travel availability: Willingness to travel domestically up to 90% of the time, including regional weekday driving that may exceed 50%, overnight travel, and occasional weekend or holiday travel within or outside the assigned territory.
  • On-call availability: Ability to participate in a rotating weekend and holiday support schedule, with approximately 15% of annual service operations involving on-call coverage and potential overnight travel.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, wear personal protective equipment, operate heavy machinery when required, and lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Hourly compensation: Estimated pay range of $32.10–$48.20 per hour for this field-based role in Arizona.
  • Performance bonus: Eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance.
  • Medical coverage: Choice of medical plans, including prescription coverage, with nationwide access and telemedicine options.
  • Dental and vision insurance: Available as part of the benefits package.
  • Life and accidental death insurance: Company-provided coverage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
