We are seeking a detail-oriented Fire Sprinkler Designer to develop reliable, code-compliant fire protection systems for a variety of building projects. This fully remote opportunity is open to candidates across the United States who are passionate about engineering design, technical accuracy, and fire safety. You will translate architectural plans and project specifications into practical sprinkler system layouts, piping configurations, and hydraulic calculations. Working with project teams, you will help select appropriate equipment, optimize fabrication data, and prepare the documentation needed for successful system installation. You will also contribute to improving design workflows by promoting innovative software platforms and tools. This role offers an opportunity to apply your technical expertise while supporting safer buildings and advancing your career in fire protection engineering.

Accountabilities

  • Fire Sprinkler System Design: Develop comprehensive fire protection system designs, including sprinkler layouts, pipe routing, hanger placement, and other essential system components.
  • Hydraulic Calculations and Technical Analysis: Perform hydraulic calculations and other technical analyses required to ensure system performance and compliance with applicable design criteria.
  • Project Plan and Specification Review: Analyze architectural drawings, building plans, project specifications, and building classifications to determine appropriate fire protection requirements.
  • Hazard Classification and Design Criteria: Identify and confirm the applicable hazard classifications and design parameters for each project to support safe and effective system design.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain supporting design documents, files, calculations, and other deliverables required throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Equipment and Method Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate fire protection equipment, materials, and design methods based on project requirements and technical specifications.
  • Fabrication Optimization: Apply industry best practices and relevant requirements to improve fabrication data accuracy, efficiency, and usability.
  • Technology and Process Improvement: Encourage the adoption of modern design software platforms, tools, and workflows to enhance productivity, consistency, and overall design quality.
  • Collaboration and Technical Support: Work with relevant project stakeholders to address design requirements, resolve technical challenges, and support the delivery of effective fire protection solutions.
  • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Engineering Design Knowledge: Experience with engineering design principles, technical drawings, calculations, and project specifications. Engineering design experience and relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Fire Sprinkler Design Experience: Previous experience designing fire sprinkler or fire protection systems is preferred.
  • Hydraulic Calculation Skills: Ability to perform or support hydraulic calculations and interpret technical data to develop appropriate system designs.
  • Plan Interpretation: Ability to review building plans, architectural drawings, and project documentation to identify design requirements and determine suitable system configurations.
  • Technical Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to producing accurate designs, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Industry Certifications: NICET certification is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Ability to work with technical design software and willingness to learn and promote new platforms and tools that improve design and fabrication processes.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to evaluate technical constraints, identify practical solutions, and apply relevant design standards and best practices.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with project stakeholders and contribute to shared technical objectives.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay current with evolving design technologies, industry practices, and fire protection requirements.
  • Competitive Compensation: Estimated monthly pay range of $4,500 to $11,275, depending on qualifications, experience, and work location.
  • Performance Incentives: Eligibility for a bonus or incentive plan.
  • Remote Work Flexibility: Fully remote position available to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
  • Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance options.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
