This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Orthodontic Insurance AR Specialist based in United States.
This role focuses on resolving outstanding orthodontic insurance balances and maximizing accurate, timely reimbursement. You will investigate unpaid, underpaid, and past-due claims while working directly with insurance carriers to determine the appropriate resolution. The position combines insurance expertise, account reconciliation, detailed research, and patient support. You will work across practice management systems and insurance portals to maintain accurate patient and insurance accounts. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys solving complex billing issues and managing a high volume of accounts with precision. You will have the opportunity to work independently in a remote environment while contributing to efficient revenue cycle operations. The preferred schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM ET, with a supportive environment and opportunities for professional growth.
Accountabilities:
- Review outstanding and past-due orthodontic insurance claims to determine why payments have not been received.
- Contact insurance carriers by phone and through online portals to research claim status, payment information, and outstanding issues.
- Submit and resubmit insurance claims through practice management systems, fax, or mail when necessary.
- Investigate and resolve unpaid, underpaid, and overpaid insurance balances.
- Reconcile insurance payments and accurately apply payments to the appropriate patient accounts.
- Make account adjustments to ensure patient and insurance balances remain accurate.
- Respond to inbound patient calls regarding insurance accounts and provide clear support when additional research or clarification is required.
- Navigate practice management systems and insurance carrier websites to gather claim and account information.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation throughout the claims resolution process.
- Independently manage a high volume of accounts while consistently meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
- 2+ years of orthodontic insurance experience required.
- Experience with orthodontic practice management platforms such as Dolphin, Cloud 9, Ortho2, OrthoTrac, or TOPS is preferred.
- Proven experience researching and following up on unpaid or outstanding insurance claims.
- Strong understanding of dental or orthodontic insurance processes, including claim submission, payment processing, and insurance benefits.
- Comfortable navigating multiple practice management systems and insurance carrier portals.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in account and payment information.
- Ability to investigate billing problems, identify the cause of unpaid claims, and determine appropriate next steps.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, particularly when managing a high volume of accounts.
- Ability to work independently and remain productive in a fully remote environment.
- Basic technology proficiency and the ability to learn new systems and workflows quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service-oriented approach.
- Ability to handle patient and insurance inquiries professionally and effectively.
- Compensation of $19.50 per hour.
