The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Associate – Technology Practice based in the United States.

As a Senior Associate within the Technology Practice, you will play a pivotal role in delivering executive search engagements for senior technology leaders across complex, enterprise-level organizations. You will own research strategies, lead market mapping initiatives, and conduct first-round executive assessments to identify exceptional leadership talent. Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, you will provide market insights, evaluate candidates, and influence critical hiring decisions. You will manage multiple retained searches simultaneously, balancing strategic thinking, rigorous assessment, and high-quality execution. Beyond search delivery, you will mentor junior colleagues, strengthen team capabilities, and contribute to the development of diverse, high-performing leadership teams. This role offers significant autonomy, meaningful client exposure, and the opportunity to shape executive recruitment strategies in a collaborative, remote-first consulting environment. It is ideal for an experienced executive search professional who combines sound judgment, strong executive presence, and a commitment to excellence and inclusive leadership.

Accountabilities:

  • Executive Search Strategy: Own research strategies across multiple retained executive search engagements, establishing clear priorities and methodologies to identify high-caliber technology leadership candidates.
  • Market Mapping and Talent Research: Lead comprehensive market mapping initiatives, identify relevant talent pools, assess competitive landscapes, and maintain a high level of accuracy and completeness in candidate research.
  • Executive Assessment and Interviews: Conduct first-round interviews and lead the majority of initial executive assessments, evaluating candidates for leadership capabilities, professional experience, strategic alignment, and suitability for client requirements.
  • Candidate Calibration and Selection: Exercise independent judgment when assessing candidate profiles, calibrating talent against search criteria, and making recommendations regarding candidate advancement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Participate actively in client update calls, present market intelligence, communicate research findings, and provide well-supported candidate recommendations that inform executive hiring decisions.
  • Search Portfolio Management: Manage approximately six concurrent searches and deliver around 14 or more searches annually, maintaining consistent quality, responsiveness, and execution across engagements.
  • Technology Practice Expertise: Support executive searches for senior technology leadership positions, including CIO, CTO, CDO, CISO, VP of Engineering, and related executive roles, primarily within large enterprises and Fortune 500 organizations.
  • Team Mentorship and Development: Mentor Associates and Associate Directors, share best practices, strengthen research and assessment capabilities, and contribute to the development of a high-performing search team.
  • Quality Assurance and Execution: Maintain rigorous standards for candidate evaluation, research accuracy, data integrity, communication, and client-ready deliverables throughout the search lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve research methodologies, search processes, internal tools, and team workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and client outcomes.
  • Inclusive Leadership and Collaboration: Contribute to a collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives, professional development, accountability, and the identification of exceptional leaders from varied backgrounds.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in retained executive search or senior-level executive recruiting, with demonstrated responsibility for delivering complex searches.
  • Search Portfolio Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent executive search engagements, prioritize competing deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality results.
  • Research Strategy and Market Mapping: Demonstrated ownership of research strategy and talent market mapping, with a strong commitment to research accuracy and a target of 90% or higher accuracy.
  • Executive Interviewing and Assessment: Experience conducting interviews and evaluating senior leaders at the VP, SVP, and C-suite levels, with the ability to assess leadership capabilities, experience, and alignment with client needs.
  • Technology Industry Knowledge: Experience in technology executive search within enterprise environments is strongly preferred. Candidates with a strong interest in technology leadership recruitment and transferable executive search expertise will also be considered.
  • Executive Presence and Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior executives, present market insights, and communicate candidate recommendations clearly and persuasively.
  • Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Strong research, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret market information, identify talent opportunities, and make sound candidate calibration decisions.
  • Quality and Accountability: High standards for accuracy, attention to detail, professional integrity, and ownership of deliverables, with a consistent focus on meeting client expectations.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to support, coach, and develop junior team members while contributing to a culture of continuous learning and shared success.
  • Organization and Time Management: Strong planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage a demanding portfolio of searches while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
  • Collaboration and Relationship Building: A team-oriented mindset and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients, colleagues, and candidates across different professional backgrounds.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Improvement: A proactive, growth-oriented approach, with a willingness to challenge existing processes, adopt new tools, and continuously improve search delivery.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: An appreciation for diverse leadership perspectives and a commitment to supporting inclusive executive hiring practices.
  • Competitive annual salary: $110,000–$115,000 USD.
  • Annual performance bonus: 10% target bonus.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely from within the United States.
  • Work-from-home support: Office setup stipend to help create a productive remote workspace.
  • Paid parental leave: Support for employees and their families during important life transitions.
  • Professional development: Opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, broader business exposure, and career advancement.
  • Meaningful, purpose-driven work: Contribute to executive search projects that help organizations build stronger leadership teams and create positive organizational impact.
  • Commitment to social impact: Work within an organization that donates 10% of its annual profits to charities supporting underserved youth and educational opportunities.
  • Inclusive team culture: Join a collaborative environment that values diversity, equity, inclusion, authenticity, accountability, and professional excellence.
  • Strategic client exposure: Develop relationships with senior executives and contribute directly to important leadership hiring decisions across enterprise technology organizations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
