The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Consultant, Medicaid based in the United States.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring consulting professional to contribute to the planning, development, and improvement of state Medicaid programs across the United States. The Staff Consultant will support government agency clients through two key service areas: Advanced Planning Document (APD) development and Outcomes-Based Procurement (OBP) support. Working alongside experienced consultants and subject matter experts, this individual will help prepare funding documentation, develop procurement materials, conduct research, and coordinate project activities. The role offers hands-on exposure to public-sector consulting, healthcare program financing, and procurement strategy. With structured training, mentorship, and on-the-job learning, the successful candidate will have opportunities to build specialized expertise while contributing to meaningful client outcomes. This remote position combines analytical work, collaboration, and project coordination, with travel to client sites as needed.

Accountabilities:

  • APD development and funding support: Assist with developing Advanced Planning Document narratives, budget documentation, Medicaid Detailed Budget Tables, and other materials required for submissions to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Outcomes-Based Procurement support: Conduct research, gather requirements, develop procurement documentation, and assist with planning activities that help clients implement effective procurement strategies.
  • Research and analysis: Research Medicaid-related topics, analyze information, and contribute to client deliverables, presentations, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Client and stakeholder communication: Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, project team members, and other stakeholders to support collaboration and project progress.
  • Project tracking: Monitor action items, risks, issues, decisions, deliverables, and milestones to help ensure projects remain organized and on schedule.
  • Documentation and reporting: Prepare and edit meeting agendas, minutes, status reports, presentations, and other client-facing materials with a strong focus on accuracy and clarity.
  • Project coordination: Maintain project repositories and documentation, coordinate meetings, follow up on deliverables, and support day-to-day project administration.
  • Team collaboration and development: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, mentorship opportunities, and professional development activities.
  • Process improvement and internal initiatives: Contribute to knowledge sharing, internal process improvements, firm-wide initiatives, and business development efforts.
  • Administrative support: Complete assigned administrative and coordination tasks efficiently, seek clarification when needed, and help maintain consistent delivery standards.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or five years of applicable professional experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Written communication: Experience developing clear, concise, and professional written materials, such as reports, proposals, policies, business documents, or similar deliverables.
  • Technical proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Organizational skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Research and analytical skills: Ability to gather information, assess findings, solve problems, and translate research into useful project outputs.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with project teams and contribute to shared goals.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple concurrent responsibilities.
  • Professional curiosity: Demonstrated initiative, willingness to learn, and interest in developing new skills and knowledge.
  • Relevant interests: Motivation to build expertise in Medicaid consulting, APD development, budgeting, procurement, project management, and related advisory services.
  • Competitive compensation: Target annual base salary ranging from $65,000 to $80,000, depending on experience, education, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
  • Remote work: Opportunity to work remotely while supporting state Medicaid agency clients nationwide.
  • Professional development: Access to formal training, mentorship, and on-the-job learning.
  • Career growth: Opportunities to develop specialized knowledge in Medicaid consulting, government healthcare programs, budgeting, and procurement.
  • Health and well-being: Benefits designed to support physical, mental, career, social, and financial well-being.
  • Client exposure: Opportunities to collaborate with government agencies, experienced consultants, and subject matter experts.
  • Meaningful work: Contribute to initiatives supporting state Medicaid programs and public-sector service delivery.
  • Travel opportunities: Potential for 25–50% onsite travel, with additional travel depending on client and project requirements.
  • Inclusive workplace: A collaborative, people-focused professional environment that emphasizes learning, development, and employee well-being.
  • Workplace accommodations: Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals participating in the application or interview process or performing essential job functions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
