The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical / Engineering Analyst based in the United States.

As a Technical / Engineering Analyst, you will support the evaluation, development, and sustainment of critical aviation security screening capabilities within a federal transportation security program. You will analyze engineering documentation, system performance data, technical requirements, and proposed changes to help ensure complex systems meet established standards and operational objectives. Working alongside senior engineers, program managers, acquisition specialists, and government stakeholders, you will turn technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations. Your work will contribute to the oversight of checked baggage and property screening technologies, including explosives detection and baggage inspection systems. You will help identify engineering risks, assess system integration challenges, and evaluate emerging technologies, including digital engineering and AI-assisted analysis. This remote opportunity combines technical investigation, systems engineering, and stakeholder collaboration in a mission-driven environment focused on transportation security. If you are an analytical, detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and translating technical evidence into informed decisions, this role offers an opportunity to contribute to important public-sector initiatives.

Accountabilities

  • Review technical documentation: Examine engineering requirements, specifications, technical reports, test results, and contractor deliverables to assess completeness, consistency, technical accuracy, and compliance with established requirements.
  • Evaluate proposed engineering changes: Review Requests for Deviation (RFDs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), documenting their potential impact on system requirements, performance, cost, schedule, and overall program objectives.
  • Support technical oversight: Assist Contracting Officer's Representatives and Technical Monitors in evaluating the technical aspects of contract performance and determining whether deliverables meet documented expectations.
  • Analyze system performance and integration: Assess system-level performance, interfaces, integration challenges, and alternative technical solutions. Contribute to alternatives analyses and other engineering assessments to support informed program decisions.
  • Identify and communicate engineering risks: Document technical concerns, evaluate their potential implications, and coordinate findings with program management, acquisition, risk management, and scheduling teams.
  • Contribute to advanced engineering initiatives: Support the application of digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), advanced analytics, and emerging engineering technologies under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support AI and machine learning initiatives: Assist with evaluating and applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to system analysis and decision-making, using approved government tools and established procedures.
  • Develop technical assessments and deliverables: Contribute to special studies, technical assessments, test plans, build guides, issue papers, engineering briefings, and other documentation required to support program execution.
  • Track technical issues and corrective actions: Maintain clear records of technical questions, review comments, decisions, and corrective actions, following each item through resolution.
  • Prepare recommendations and briefings: Translate complex technical findings into concise, evidence-based recommendations for government engineering personnel, program managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support technical collaboration: Prepare materials for technical exchanges, working groups, and industry engagement events, facilitating effective communication among engineering teams and program stakeholders.
  • Maintain documentation quality and accessibility: Ensure deliverables are provided in PDF and editable formats, comply with Section 508 accessibility standards in coordination with the appropriate specialists, and incorporate government feedback within five business days.
  • Maintain objectivity and compliance: Identify and document potential conflicts of interest before reviewing contractor engineering proposals, deviations, or other technical deliverables.
  • Support government decision-making: Provide independent technical analysis and recommendations while respecting the boundaries of the role, which does not include inherently governmental responsibilities such as approving engineering changes or formally accepting deliverables.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical science, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional experience: At least five years of experience in systems engineering, technical analysis, systems integration, testing, or a closely related field.
  • Technical documentation: Demonstrated experience reviewing and evaluating engineering requirements, technical specifications, test documentation, and deliverables for complex systems.
  • Systems analysis: Ability to evaluate system performance, interfaces, integration challenges, technical alternatives, and engineering risks using structured analytical methods.
  • Technical communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex engineering issues, program implications, and recommendations through clear reports and presentations.
  • Analytical problem-solving: Strong critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assess technical evidence, identify inconsistencies, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Ability to work effectively with engineers, acquisition professionals, program managers, technical monitors, and government stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Project and issue tracking: Ability to document technical findings, manage review comments, monitor corrective actions, and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Documentation standards: Understanding of technical documentation quality, version control, accessibility requirements, and structured review processes.
  • Preferred federal program experience: Previous experience supporting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) property screening programs or other Transportation Security Equipment (TSE) initiatives.
  • Preferred systems knowledge: Familiarity with checked baggage and checkpoint screening systems, including explosives detection systems (EDS) and checked baggage inspection systems (CBIS), as well as their testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Preferred acquisition experience: Experience evaluating engineering changes, system interfaces, or contractor deliverables within a federal acquisition program.
  • Digital engineering expertise: Familiarity with digital engineering and model-based systems engineering tools, such as CAMEO or ProModel.
  • Federal acquisition knowledge: Familiarity with TSA and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acquisition policies and frameworks, including DHS Directive 102-01 and the DHS Acquisition Lifecycle Framework.
  • Data analysis skills: Experience with Power BI, Python, or comparable tools for data analysis, visualization, and technical reporting.
  • Background investigation: A current public trust background investigation is preferred.
  • Remote work arrangement: Remote position based in the United States, with the role supporting a federal transportation security program.
  • Full-time employment: Opportunity to contribute to ongoing technical analysis and engineering support activities within an established program environment.
  • Mission-driven work: Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of security screening technologies that support transportation safety.
  • Complex technical challenges: Gain exposure to systems engineering, technical integration, testing, performance evaluation, and engineering change management.
  • Emerging technology exposure: Opportunities to contribute to initiatives involving digital engineering, model-based systems engineering, advanced analytics, and AI-assisted decision-making.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside experienced engineers, acquisition specialists, program managers, and government stakeholders.
  • Professional development: Expand expertise in federal engineering programs, transportation security systems, technical risk assessment, and systems lifecycle management.
  • Meaningful program impact: Help improve the quality of engineering deliverables, strengthen technical oversight, and support evidence-based government decisions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
