This role is responsible for driving growth across capital project opportunities by combining technical expertise with strategic sales execution. You will work closely with project pursuit leaders to identify, qualify, develop, and secure opportunities with major end users and engineering, procurement, and construction firms. The position involves building trusted customer relationships and influencing projects through technical discussions, product presentations, and specification support. You will review engineering documentation, contribute to project strategies, and provide technical guidance throughout the sales process. Accountabilities:

  • Partner with project pursuit leadership to identify, qualify, and develop capital project opportunities and establish strategies for securing targeted business.
  • Maintain accurate project plans and actively track assigned opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at targeted end users, EPCs, OEMs, distributors, and other project partners.
  • Promote technical solutions and capabilities through strong product knowledge, consultative selling, and project-specific expertise.
  • Develop and support technical specifications and review project specifications, P&IDs, data sheets, and other engineering documentation.
  • Lead technical discussions, customer presentations, product information seminars, and other engagement activities.
  • Coordinate with local sales teams to support customer opportunities, seminars, and order capture initiatives.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to distributors, field sales, and inside sales teams during customer engagements.
  • Prepare quotations, reports, forecasts, project documentation, and other sales administration materials.
  • Provide regular forecasts of potential sales volumes and communicate relevant market trends, competitive insights, and sales intelligence to management.
  • Support project evaluations and technical reviews by collecting and analyzing information, identifying requirements, and developing practical solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • 5–7 years of outside technical sales experience, ideally involving valves, industrial products, capital equipment, or related engineered solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, EPCs, OEMs, distributors, and cross-functional internal stakeholders.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand, analyze, and interpret technical and business documentation.
  • Experience reviewing specifications, P&IDs, data sheets, and other engineering materials and performing technical evaluations.
  • Proven project coordination skills with strong organization and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to present technical and commercial information effectively to customers, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and develop solutions.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, organized, and comfortable working independently in a customer-facing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% by air and car for customer meetings, technical seminars, and project support activities.
  • Annual base salary of $92,500–$138,100, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and market and business considerations.
  • Commission and additional incentive compensation opportunities.
  • Health insurance and comprehensive benefits coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement benefits.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Paid time off.
  • Growth and professional development opportunities.
  • Competitive total rewards package.
  • Compensation and benefits may vary based on location and applicable employment arrangements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
