The posting

Kizer Energy is seeking an experienced MV/HV Electrical CSU Lead to support our client Project (PowerCo and DataCo scopes) in Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all medium- and high-voltage (MV/HV) electrical completion, startup, and commissioning (CSU) activities, beginning with discipline completions of electrical systems and subsystems through final project handover. This role ensures the safe energization, testing, protection coordination, and operational readiness of all MV/HV electrical infrastructure supporting the data center. The MV/HV Electrical CSU Lead will provide technical leadership, oversee commissioning execution, and ensure all systems are completed, tested, and transferred in accordance with project requirements, maintaining continuity from Substantial Completion through Facility Custody Transfer.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the completion, startup, testing, energization, and commissioning of all MV/HV electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, bus duct, MV cabling, grounding systems, and utility service equipment.
  • Manage the progression of electrical systems through Mechanical Completion (MC), Pre-Functional Testing (PFT), Commissioning, and Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) milestones.
  • Review and validate protection and control systems, including relay settings, coordination studies, arc flash analyses, breaker trip curves, interlocks, and fail-safe logic.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams and utility providers to develop and implement compliant protection schemes and energization strategies.
  • Direct MV/HV testing activities, including insulation resistance, hi-pot, relay functional, primary/secondary injection, transformer oil, and cable VLF testing.
  • Develop and execute safe energization plans in accordance with project requirements, utility standards, and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary interface between engineering, construction, commissioning, utility, and automation teams to ensure system readiness and resolve commissioning-related issues.
  • Ensure timely closure of punch list items, successful system turnover, and achievement of commissioning milestones.
  • Maintain and verify electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, relay logic drawings, cable schedules, test records, commissioning procedures, and turnover packages.
  • Ensure all commissioning records and turnover documentation are complete, accurate, and audit-ready for client handover.
  • Lead electrical safety planning and enforce compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE, utility requirements, and project safety standards.
  • Identify commissioning risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support safe execution of all MV/HV energization activities.
  • Provide regular commissioning status reports, monitor key readiness metrics, and identify schedule risks and critical path impacts affecting project delivery.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred; equivalent technical experience will be considered.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in MV/HV electrical commissioning, testing, or power systems engineering.
  • Proven experience with MV/HV distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing commissioning teams on mission-critical, data center, industrial, or similar complex projects.
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection, service activation, and grid synchronization processes.

Certifications and Training

  • NETA Level II, III, or IV certification strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required.
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training required.
  • Utility-specific certifications are an advantage.
  • Additional client-specific HSE onboarding and training may be required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong ability to interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs), relay logic diagrams, electrical schematics, and protection coordination studies.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing and commissioning equipment, including Omicron, Doble, and Megger test systems.
  • Thorough understanding of MV/HV electrical safety requirements, testing methodologies, and energization procedures.
  • Working knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and utility standards.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting MV/HV electrical systems, protection relays, and power distribution equipment.

Core Competencies

  • Strong leadership, team coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of MV/HV electrical systems and commissioning practices.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and quality control capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills with engineering, construction, commissioning, and client teams.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure commissioning and startup environments.

Terms and Conditions

  • Project Duration: Approximately 2+ years, with project activities expected to continue through 2029.
  • Work Schedule: Anticipated workload of 50-60 hours per week, based on project requirements and commissioning activities.
  • Project Start Date: September 1, 2026

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
