Je komt te werken binnen het team Containerization & Virtualization (C&V) van de afdeling Private Cloud van KPN. Dit team bouwt, beheert en ontwikkelt de Red Hat OpenShift-platformen in de KPN-datacenters. Vanaf die platformen levert het container- en virtualisatiediensten aan de interne applicatieteams van KPN.

C&V bestaat uit drie teams:

  • een team voor het virtualisatieplatform: OpenShift Virtualization, met negen clusters verspreid over verschillende datacenters en netwerken;
  • een team voor het containerplatform: twaalf OpenShift Container Platform-clusters;
  • een team dat de diensten rondom de platformen beheert voor de applicatieteams.

Jij komt in het containerplatformteam, een team van acht à tien collega’s. Ze werken voortdurend aan beter, en staan voor beschikbaarheid, kwaliteit, standaardisatie, security en innovatie. Automatisering is daarbij de kern: wat geautomatiseerd kan worden, wordt geautomatiseerd.

Het team werkt grotendeels thuis en komt elke dinsdag samen op kantoor in Groningen. Je sluit daar ook op dinsdag aan. Waar je verder in Nederland woont, maakt niet uit.

Vacatureomschrijving

Als OpenShift / Kubernetes Engineer werk je aan de doorontwikkeling van het OpenShift-containerplatform. Je richt je niet alleen op het dagelijkse beheer. Je ziet waar het platform beter kan, implementeert nieuwe functionaliteit en zet ook nieuwe platformen neer.

Wat je gaat doen:

  • Bouwen, uitbreiden en verbeteren van OpenShift-clusters in verschillende projecten.
  • Nieuwe functionaliteit en nieuwe platformen implementeren binnen de OpenShift-stack, inclusief de applicaties die erbij horen.
  • Configureren, beheren en troubleshooten van complexe platformomgevingen.
  • Zoveel mogelijk automatiseren met GitOps, Argo CD, Ansible en Infrastructure as Code.
  • Bijdragen aan de betrouwbaarheid van het platform en problemen structureel oplossen, in plaats van alleen het symptoom.
  • Kennis documenteren en actief delen met je collega’s.

Je schakelt soepel tussen engineering, beheer en projectwerk. Je werkt zelfstandig, maar altijd als onderdeel van het team. We zoeken nadrukkelijk geen klassieke beheerder, maar iemand die samen met het team bouwt aan een steeds verder geautomatiseerd, gestandaardiseerd en betrouwbaar platform.

Functie-eisen

Wat je meebrengt:

  • Aantoonbare kennis van en ervaring met Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) en Kubernetes.
  • Ervaring met het werken volgens GitOps en met Argo CD.
  • Ervaring met Ansible en Infrastructure as Code.
  • Ervaring met het bouwen, configureren, beheren en troubleshooten van complexe platformomgevingen.
  • Je kunt zelfstandig complexe technische vraagstukken analyseren en zoekt naar structurele verbeteringen.
  • Je kiest altijd voor automatisering boven handwerk.
  • Je bent een teamspeler: je deelt kennis, durft kritisch te zijn en blijft pragmatisch.

Wat het extra sterk maakt:

  • Ervaring met OpenShift Virtualization.
  • Kennis van Kargo, Prometheus en Grafana.
  • Ervaring met CI/CD en geautomatiseerde deploymentprocessen.
  • Kennis van netwerk-, storage- en securityconcepten binnen Kubernetes en OpenShift.
