Department: MMF Vision Center Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Employee Type: Regular Per Diem Type (if applicable): Minimum Pay Range: $24.51 - $29.41 Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Ophthalmic Assistant provides advanced clinical and operational support to ophthalmologists by performing preliminary ophthalmic testing, assisting with patient examinations and procedures, documenting patient encounters, and operating and maintaining diagnostic equipment. This position serves as a subject matter expert and resource for ophthalmic assistants, providing functional direction, training, and support with clinical workflows, equipment, and the implementation of new medications and procedures. The role also coordinates patient care and surgical documentation, supports efficient clinic operations, and provides patient education regarding eye health, medications, and follow-up care POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: · High school diploma or equivalent required. · Certified Ophthalmic Assistant required. Knowledge/Experience: · Three (3) years of experience in ophthalmology or optometry required. · Knowledge of medical terminology required. Skills: · Strong communication and customer service skills required. · Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with EMR systems required. · Ability to multitask and work well with clinical teams required. · Excellent interpersonal and patient-care skills. · Attention to detail and strong organizational ability. · Manual dexterity for handling optical instruments. · Ability to follow clinical protocols and safety procedures. · Compassionate, calm, and professional demeanor.
