“CREATING AMAZING SPACES TO BE PROUD OF”

At McCormack, we're one of Australia's leading family-owned building services companies, specialising in fit-out and refurbishment, asset repositioning, design and construct, and heritage restoration.

Our success is built on the strength of our people. We are committed to fostering a workplace where team members are supported to grow, contribute, and do their best work. We value collaboration, integrity, innovation, and creating an environment where everyone feels respected and included.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Preconstruction Associate to join our Preconstruction team in Melbourne.

In this role, you will support all aspects of project design and delivery, including project planning, feasibility assessment, brief development, conceptualisation, detailed design, tender preparation and Design & Construct project delivery. Working closely with our design, estimating, projects and site management teams, you will help drive projects from planning through to design and construction and report directly to the Preconstruction Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and manage preconstruction activities including project planning, consultant engagement, design development, tender submissions and project handovers.
  • Review tender documentation, assess scope and pricing requirements, prepare reports and presentations, and support successful project bids and client engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, designers, estimators and project delivery teams to develop design briefs, manage documentation, monitor budgets and programmes, and identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards and project requirements while supporting seamless handovers and successful project delivery outcomes.

ABOUT YOU

Successful applicants must have:

  • Qualifications in Building & Construction, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline. White Card and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Approximately 3-5 years' experience in a Design & Construct, Preconstruction, Design, Project Management or related environment.
  • Prior experience as a Design Manager or Services Manager will be highly regarded.
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Experience with project management systems such as Buildlogic, Procore or similar will be highly regarded.

You must have the right to live and work in Australia to be considered for this position. Applications generated or assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) will not be accepted.

WHY JOIN MCCORMACK?

This is an opportunity to be part of a supportive, high-performing and close-knit team that genuinely values its people. We invest in professional development, recognise individual contributions, and create opportunities for our team members to grow their careers.

EMBRACING DIFFERENCES

Being Different Together means creating a workplace where people feel respected, valued and empowered to be themselves. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to contribute, grow and succeed.

We strongly encourage applications from women interested in construction careers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people with disability. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
