BUILD THE FUTURE

At McGraw Hill we create best-in-class, next-generation learning platforms that are used by millions of students and educators worldwide from kindergarten through graduate school. Our goal is to accelerate student success through intuitive and effective learning tools and content that maximize a teacher’s time and a student’s learning experience.

If you have the passion and technical expertise to thrive in an innovative and agile environment, we want to learn more about you.

What is this role about?

Are you passionate about shaping educational content that makes a difference? We are seeking a talented Senior Content Developer to join our dynamic team, focusing on English Language Arts (ELA) and English Language Teaching (ELT) product development. You’ll play a key role in designing and developing cutting-edge educational solutions that cater to both student needs and current pedagogical trends.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive content strategy, lead project management, and ensure product quality. This role demands strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and exceptional communication skills. Experience in ELT publishing or teaching, and managing freelancers is essential.

What you will be doing?

  • Content Development & Project Management:
  1. Lead the planning of various projects in collaboration with the Line Manager and regional teams. Conduct thorough market research by interacting with teachers, organizing focus groups, engaging in classroom observations, and attending relevant conferences. Build and manage networks of authors, advisors, reviewers, and freelance content editors. Oversee product development from the planning stage to final publication, ensuring projects on schedule. Compile and manage all necessary documentation for project approvals. Ensure the quality and consistency of materials, addressing any issues with authors and editors promptly. Organize and communicate progress meetings for content development effectively with all stakeholders. Lead project reviews to assess performance, capture lessons learned, and develop actionable insights for future initiatives.
  • Freelance Management & Communications:
  1. Report project progress regularly to the Line Manager. Manage communications and relationships with authors and vendors. Motivate and retain freelance editors. Participate in progress and follow-up meetings as needed.
  • Quality Assurance & Control:
  1. Monitor project costs and alert the Line Manager of any deviations. Ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards. Adhere to established workflows and procedures.
  • Systems & Procedures:
  1. Maintain accurate documentation for projects, covering intellectual property and archiving of assets for future use. Follow in-house policies to ensure comprehensive project documentation.

What you need to be considered?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in content development or editorial roles within English Language Teaching (ELT) publishing. Experience with content development for digital platforms is a plus.
  • Skills:
  1. Strong English communication skills, both oral and written, including editing and proofreading abilities. Strong understanding of ELT methodologies and curriculum. Expertise in project management with the ability to handle multiple projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is essential. Familiarity with Adobe programs (such as InDesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator) is a plus.
  • Attributes:
  1. Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality content. Creative thinker with the capacity to create unique educational materials. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based, matrix organization. Commitment to continuous improvement of work practices. Active sharing of knowledge and positive interaction with colleagues and vendors. Growth mindset with a focus on continuous learning and development opportunities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
