Your Role:

As a Finance Operations Team Lead, you will:

  • Dual-Function Operational Leadership: Direct daily AR and AP team deliverables, managing workflow allocation, SLA compliance, cross-training, leave coverage, and KPI performance reporting.
  • Ledger & Subledger Reconciliations: Oversee and review monthly reconciliations of debtor and creditor balances, aged payables, aged receivables, suspense items, and clearing accounts to the general ledger.
  • Collections & Payment Systems Administration: Manage direct debit and direct credit settlement platforms, collaborate with banking partners and payment gateways, and promote digital payment automation.
  • Internal Controls & Fraud Prevention: Enforce strict controls around supplier and customer master-data changes, delegated authorities, dual-approval banking verifications, and duplicate payment detection.
  • Stakeholder & Escalation Management: Manage high-level operational relationships with banking institutions, major corporate suppliers, and key clients, resolving complex billing or payment disputes.
  • Audit Support & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate internal and external audit deliverables, lead control remediation actions, and drive process optimization across ERP and shared-services platforms.

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

  • Shared Services Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate or professional services shared-services environment, including direct experience leading teams through process or system change.
  • Combined AR & AP Operational Oversight: Proven operational background managing both Accounts Receivable (billing, credit, collections) and Accounts Payable (invoicing, payments, vendor maintenance) functions.
  • Tertiary Finance/Accounting Qualification: Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
  • Reconciliation & General Ledger Integrity: Strong expertise in reviewing high-volume balance sheet reconciliations, subledger-to-GL matching, and identifying root causes for aging balances.
  • Financial Controls & Risk Governance: Deep understanding of segregation of duties, master data change controls, bank verification procedures, and fraud mitigation frameworks.

Preferred skills/expertise

  • Prior experience supporting the financial services, salary packaging, or corporate employee benefits sectors.
  • Experience utilizing enterprise ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Pronto Xi) and automated banking clearing solutions.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills for data manipulation, reconciliation modeling, and operational KPI dashboard reporting.
  • Experience working within an Australian corporate reporting and regulatory framework.
