The posting

Role: Senior Risk Analyst

Location: London

Position: Full time, permanent

At MS Amlin, we operate at the heart of the Lloyd’s market – a place where complex risks meet innovative solutions. We’re looking for a Senior Risk Analyst to join our team and help shape how we manage and oversee quantitative risk across the business.

This role offers genuine variety. There will be an expectation to be involved in all aspects of the 2nd line Risk function, with a heavy bias towards the quantitative risk aspects (across insurance and financial risk). Areas of quantitative oversight include underwriting, portfolio management, outwards reinsurance, exposure management, pricing, reserving, and capital. You’ll collaborate with specialists across the business, contribute to management level discussions, and gain exposure to the decision‑making that drives a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.

This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative, forward-looking Risk team where your work will be visible at the highest levels of the business. You’ll gain exposure across the full spectrum of insurance risk, contribute to shaping our approach in the Lloyd’s market, and develop your career in an environment that values curiosity, challenge, and growth.

If you’re looking to develop your expertise and play a meaningful role within a high-performing Risk Function, we encourage you to apply.

About the job

What you'll spend your time doing:

  • Deliver the Integrated Assurance Plan by agreeing review scopes, executing reviews, and producing high-quality final reports.
  • Lead and contribute to risk discussions with stakeholders, offering constructive challenge and practical recommendations.
  • Define and monitor risk appetite, tolerances, and key risk indicators (KRIs), reporting outcomes to management committees and the Board.
  • Investigate and track risk events through to resolution.
  • Provide insightful analysis on risks and controls, ensuring issues are identified, escalated, and resolved.
  • Conduct deep-dive reviews into critical topics such as business planning, reinsurance purchasing, and reserving.
  • Support the Validation pillar in oversight of the Internal Model.
  • Contribute to the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), ensuring it is a value-adding tool that informs risk-based decision making.
  • Partner with Compliance to coordinate the Lloyd’s PBO attestation, helping stakeholders evidence how MS Amlin meets Lloyd’s expectations.
  • Represent Risk in working groups and change programmes, providing review and challenge throughout.
  • Support due diligence on strategic transactions (e.g. RITC, M&A).
  • Monitor emerging risks and market trends, assessing their impact on MS Amlin and the wider Lloyd’s market.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and impactful risk reporting for management and Board committees.
  • Support the development and performance management of junior team members.
  • Champion a culture of risk awareness, acting as a role model within the Risk function.
  • Contribute to the Risk & Compliance Knowledge Management pillar, raising awareness of risk management across the organisation.
  • Lead on 2nd line functional objectives, collaborating across pillars to deliver shared goals (e.g. away days, team meetings, inter-departmental projects).
  • As required, periodically support wider initiatives and delivery across the 2nd line function that sit outside of your primary responsibilities.

You’re going to enjoy this job if you also…

  • Have a desire to move into Risk Management
  • Take pride in the quality of your work.
  • Enjoy collaborating and building strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Have an eye for detail but can also see the bigger picture.
  • Can explain complex risk management concepts in clear, simple terms.
  • Have the courage to challenge constructively across the business.Thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple initiatives running concurrently.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Bring fresh ideas and a clear vision for how to execute them.
  • Enjoy working with a talented, supportive team.
  • Are committed to continuous learning and development.

What you’ll need:

  • Actuarial experience in Underwriting/Portfolio Management or Reserving/Capital or demonstrable experience driving Insurance Risk deliverables
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate data-driven insights.
  • Ability to connect themes across different areas, identify interdependencies, and apply a commercial lens to balance risk and reward.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions.
  • Strong written and presentation skills, capable of engaging senior stakeholders and ensuring the ‘risk voice’ is heard.
  • Sound judgement, including knowing when to escalate versus resolve matters directly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong execution skills and resilience under pressure and change.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate the requirements above through their experience and achievements

What will set you apart

  • Knowledge of the Lloyd’s Market and its regulatory landscape.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
