The posting
You discover what a manufacturing company wants to focus on, brings data together and creates insights that people really use.
From 32 hours • Tilburg | at clients | partly from home • Fluent Dutch
At a manufacturing company, part of the information is in the ERP. The production manager also keeps an Excel file, and finance calculates from yet another source. During a meeting, it turns out that three people are looking at three different figures. Which ones are actually correct? And what can they base their decisions on?
That's where you come in. Business intelligence for us starts with the question of what someone wants to focus on. From there, you investigate where the data comes from, how it relates, and how to create clear insights from it, for example in a Power BI dashboard that helps people adjust better.
What you will do
You will regularly be on-site with clients, where you talk to different people. A planner wants to see which orders are delayed, a production manager wants to know where bottlenecks arise, and an entrepreneur wants to understand how the company is doing. From daily decisions on the shop floor to long-term choices: together you investigate what information people need and what they want to focus on.
Then you dive into the data. Sometimes it is neatly in the ERP, but it can also be spread across different systems and Excel files. You establish connections between data sources and think about how to unlock, store, and model the data so that the information remains usable in the long term. If it turns out that two departments calculate the same figure differently, you investigate where that difference comes from and help the client arrive at a clear definition.
With a reliable foundation, you build further in Power BI, from data model to a dashboard that fits those who work with it. After the first version, you look together with users at what they actually use, which questions are still open, and what can be improved. A dashboard is only good if someone can use it in their daily work.
Who do you work with?
At Data 2 improve, you work in a small team of curious, down-to-earth people who enjoy figuring things out and building. Everyone brings their own knowledge and interests. You work independently on BI issues for clients, but also collaborate with colleagues when your knowledge complements each other.
You visit various manufacturing companies and speak with people in diverse roles. This gives you a glimpse behind the scenes and helps you learn how other companies operate. You have a lot of responsibility for your own projects, but you can always brainstorm with colleagues. There is also room to explore new techniques, try out ideas, and share knowledge with each other. On Friday afternoons, we like to wrap up the week together with a drink.
What we are looking for in you
We are looking for someone who becomes curious about the question behind the numbers. Someone who enjoys working with data and wants to understand what people are trying to achieve with it. You don’t need to master all techniques yet, as long as you can make connections, think logically, and fit in with how we work as data partners.
We find this important:
From practice You start from the people who use the information. You listen, ask questions, and want to understand what decisions they make. Then you look at how you can translate the data into insights that help with that.
Critical You investigate numbers, sources, and assumptions, and also critically examine your own ideas. You weigh alternatives and help colleagues and clients make good choices, even when that means proposing a different approach.
Integrity You are honest when data is unreliable or something technical cannot be done as intended. You make clear agreements, follow through on them, and are open about the progress of your work.
Independent You take a question from data source to dashboard under your wing. You plan your work, monitor quality, and take initiative when you see that something can be improved. When necessary, you seek collaboration with colleagues.
Willing to grow You enjoy delving into new techniques, data models, and possibilities like AI. You are open to feedback, provide feedback to others, and continue to challenge yourself to learn new things.
For this role, it is important that you speak and write fluent Dutch. You clearly explain numbers and insights to entrepreneurs, production leaders, operators, and colleagues.
Experience with Power BI and data models is a plus. Knowledge of SQL or Python is a nice bonus. We find it especially important that you understand how information is interconnected and enjoy translating different data sources into usable insights.
Haven't worked with all the techniques yet, but can you make good connections and get excited about these kinds of questions? Then we would love to meet you.
