Company Overview NACOS Marine is a globally integrated group of companies at the forefront of maritime automation, navigation, and control systems. Building on decades of expertise and a heritage of trusted solutions, NACOS Marine continues to pioneer technologies that set the standard for safer, smarter, and more efficient ship operations worldwide.

Role Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Project Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Hamburg. In this key role, you will be responsible for the customization and delivery of cutting-edge automation systems for commercial vessels, with a strong focus on retrofit projects. You will play a crucial part from presales through to final project handover, collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, secure, and efficient automation solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and program automation systems tailored to vessel-specific requirements, using NACOS Marine’s proprietary software tools
  • Customize software and databases by integrating vessel-specific values, signals, and parameters
  • Create and maintain project documentation, including functional descriptions, test protocols, I/O lists, and drawings for approval by vessel owners and shipyards
  • Test and debug systems and functionalities during engineering and participate in in-house Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal stakeholders such as Project Managers, Technical Support, Field Service, Sales, Spare Parts, and Logistics to ensure smooth project execution
  • Provide technical advice on design changes, support problem resolution, and proactively assist colleagues with quality or design issues
  • Support planning of project scopes to balance stakeholder expectations and deliver high standards of quality, cybersecurity, and cost control
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific and internal quality and security procedures

Role Requirements

  • Technical education in marine engineering, automation technology, electronics, or a related field
  • Multiple years of relevant work experience in automation or control systems
  • Familiarity with SCADA/SRO systems, IEC 61131-3 languages, and standard communication protocols (Modbus, CANbus, IEC61162)
  • Working knowledge of platform equipment (pumps, valves, switchgear) and design tools (AutoCAD, Eplan, SolidWorks)
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and able to work effectively across teams
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn new technologies
  • Proficiency in German, both written and spoken (C1 level preferred)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
