Job description

Company Overview

NACOS Marine is a globally integrated group at the forefront of maritime automation, navigation, and control systems. With decades of experience and a strong portfolio of trusted solutions, we support safe, efficient, and reliable vessel operations worldwide. Our automation technologies play a critical role in enabling modern cruise ships and large commercial vessels to operate safely and efficiently throughout their lifecycle.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Service Engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen our automation service organization in Drammen. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, commissioning, servicing, and supporting Integrated Alarm & Control Systems (IAS/IAMCS) and SCADA solutions for marine applications.

You will work closely with shipowners, shipyards, and internal engineering teams, covering the full service lifecycle from software integration and refit projects to warranty handling and sea trials. The position combines strong technical ownership with a customer-facing, hands-on service role and requires a high level of independence, flexibility, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, service, refits, upgrades, FAT/HAT, and sea trial support for marine automation systems worldwide
  • Develop, modify, and standardize PLC and SCADA software, both in-house and onboard vessels
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation, software, and hardware issues under operational conditions
  • Handle warranty cases for newbuild projects and provide remote and onboard support to shipowners and vessel crews
  • Prepare, update, and maintain technical documentation such as functional descriptions, drawings, and interface documentation
  • Support class compliance, customer acceptance, and system handover activities
  • Act as a trusted technical interface toward customers, shipyards, and internal stakeholders

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid hands-on experience with industrial automation systems, SCADA solutions, and PLC programming (IEC 61131-3 preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across automation software, electronics, computers, and industrial networks
  • Experience with industrial and marine communication protocols such as Modbus, NMEA, OPC, and Profibus
  • Comfortable working onboard vessels and traveling internationally for service and commissioning assignments
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian, both written and spoken
  • Ability to obtain NATO and national security clearance in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Strong service mindset with a clear focus on customer satisfaction and quality delivery

Why choose us and why we’d choose you

At NACOS Marine, we empower people to take ownership, act responsibly, and shape their professional path. We work in a collaborative, solution-oriented environment where safety, reliability, and quality are always top priorities.

You will work end-to-end with advanced marine automation systems contributing directly to vessel safety and operational performance while developing your expertise in an international and highly professional setting. If you are driven by technical excellence, enjoy customer interaction, and thrive in complex operational environments, this role offers a strong and meaningful next step.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
