Job description

Company Overview NACOS Marine delivers advanced navigation, automation, and control systems for vessels worldwide. Our integrated solutions help ship owners and operators improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability at sea. With proven reliability, innovative technology, and dedicated support, we enable smarter maritime operations. Let's shape the future of maritime technology together.

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and technically minded Senior Project Engineer (m/f/d) to join our engineering team supporting navy navigation projects for naval and governmental ships. In this role, you will take ownership of the design and documentation of marine navigation systems, working closely with customers, suppliers, shipyards, and colleagues across the business. The position suits an engineer with a strong electrical, electrotechnical, and computer systems background who wants to deepen their expertise in maritime navigation and control systems. You will be involved across the complete engineering process, from system layouts and electrical documentation through to testing, commissioning support, and customer interaction. Prior maritime experience is an advantage, but solid engineering fundamentals and a structured, proactive approach matter just as much.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project-specific navigation documentation based on established standard documentation packages
  • Design system layouts and architecture diagrams for marine navigation systems and electrical installations
  • Develop electrical drawings for cabinets, consoles, and automation systems using EPLAN
  • Define cabinet layouts, hardware configurations, and electrical interfaces
  • Prepare cable lists and support cable routing and connection definitions for automation systems
  • Produce technical documentation and drawings for NACOS Marine products
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, shipyards, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution
  • Participate in vessel surveys, system start-ups, commissioning activities, and on-site support when required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge with colleagues

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Naval Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience in electrical or automation engineering within an industrial, marine, or naval environment
  • Strong electrical and electrotechnical knowledge and understanding of industrial or naval systems
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Hands-on experience with EPLAN, AutoCAD, or similar electrical design software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to engineering tasks
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
  • Fluent in English and Norwegian, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel to shipyards and vessels as required
  • Eligibility for security clearance in accordance with Norwegian regulations (background check required)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with marine navigation systems
  • Familiarity with navigation sensors and computer networks
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations, classification society requirements, or shipbuilding processes
  • Experience supporting FAT activities and commissioning

Why choose us and why we'd choose you? At NACOS Marine, you'll become part of a global organization delivering innovative maritime technology solutions to customers around the world. You'll work on complex navigation systems for naval and governmental vessels, alongside experienced engineering, project, and production colleagues. We value collaboration, ownership, curiosity, and continuous learning. We're looking for someone who brings depth to their engineering work, enjoys seeing a system through from drawing to commissioning, and is happy to share what they know with the people around them.

Security Clearance NACOS Marine provides solutions and services to the defence and security sector, and parts of our operations are subject to the Norwegian Security Act. For certain positions, it is therefore a requirement that the successful candidate is eligible for authorization and, where required by the position, security clearance in accordance with applicable Norwegian regulations and governmental requirements. Candidates should be aware that the necessary security assessment may form part of the recruitment process, and that employment in certain positions may be conditional upon obtaining and maintaining the required security approvals.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
