Job description

Company Overview NACOS Marine is a globally integrated group of companies at the forefront of maritime automation, navigation, and control systems. Building on decades of expertise and a heritage of trusted solutions, NACOS Marine continues to pioneer technologies that set the standard for safer, smarter, and more efficient ship operations worldwide. Within our Customer Delivery organization, we focus on delivering, commissioning, and supporting automation systems that keep vessels operating safely and efficiently throughout their lifecycle.

Role Overview We are looking for a Service Engineer (m/f/d) Automation to join our team in Sæby/Frederikshavn. In this role, you will contribute to the programming, commissioning, and support of Integrated Alarm & Control Systems (IAS/IAMCS) and SCADA solutions for vessels, primarily cruise ships and large commercial vessels. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you will collaborate with shipowners, shipyards, and our internal engineering teams on newbuilds, refits, upgrades, and warranty activities. The role offers a balance of hands-on technical work and customer contact, and includes international travel and onboard assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out commissioning, service, refits, and upgrades of marine automation and SCADA systems
  • Take part in FAT, HAT, and Sea Trials, including onboard commissioning activities
  • Identify and resolve software and hardware issues during service assignments
  • Develop and adapt PLC/SCADA software, both in-house and onboard vessels
  • Support warranty cases for newbuild and retrofit projects, remotely and onsite
  • Prepare and keep technical documentation up to date, such as functional descriptions, drawings, and interface documentation
  • Assist with class compliance activities and system handover to shipowners, shipyards, and classification societies
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and colleagues throughout project execution

Key Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Practical, professional experience with industrial automation, SCADA systems, and PLC programming (IEC 61131-3: ST, LD, FBD, etc.), ideally gained through commissioning or service projects
  • A structured approach to troubleshooting across automation software, electronics, and industrial networks
  • Familiarity with common marine and industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, NMEA, OPC, Profibus)
  • Openness to working onboard vessels and traveling internationally for service and commissioning activities
  • Fluency in Danish and English, both written and spoken
  • The ability to obtain NATO and national security clearance in accordance with authority regulations
  • A valid driver's license

Additional Knowledge (Advantageous)

  • Exposure to Power Management Systems (PMS), propulsion control, or alarm & monitoring systems
  • Some familiarity with classification society requirements and approval documentation
  • An interest in, or basic knowledge of, object-oriented programming (e.g. C++ / C#) for tools, utilities, or integrations

Why choose us and why we’d choose you At NACOS Marine, we empower our people to take ownership and responsibility for their work. You will be part of a collaborative, international environment where safety, quality, and reliability are at the core of everything we do. You will work end-to-end with advanced automation systems, from programming and integration to sea trials and handover, while continuously developing your skills alongside experienced colleagues who share a passion for maritime technology and innovation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
