If you have a strong foundation in semiconductor device physics, experience with TCAD simulation and an interest in turning modelling and experimental data into better device performance, we want to hear from you.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work on advanced semiconductor technologies used in billions of electronic devices worldwide, collaborate with experienced engineers and scientists across multiple disciplines, and build your technical career through structured learning, mentoring and involvement in innovative development projects.

Please note, this Device Engineer role is primarily site based in Manchester. Limited travel may be required for project, supplier or collaboration activities. We are not looking to offer visa sponsorship for this position.

What you will do

As a Device Engineer, you will support the development and optimisation of advanced semiconductor device technologies from early concept through to silicon evaluation and technology qualification.

Using simulation, electrical characterisation and reliability data, you will help improve device performance, robustness, manufacturability and reliability while working closely with colleagues in TCAD, process integration, process development, product engineering and reliability.

Duties will include:

  • Performing TCAD simulations to evaluate device concepts and design optimisations
  • Investigating electrical performance and physical device behaviour
  • Supporting technology development projects from concept through silicon evaluation
  • Analysing electrical characterisation and reliability data
  • Correlating modelling and simulation results with silicon measurements
  • Supporting experimental planning, technical investigations and root cause analysis
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges
  • Preparing technical reports and presenting findings in project reviews
  • Improving modelling methods, engineering workflows and technical documentation

What you will need

Essential

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science or similar
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics and fabrication principles
  • Experience with TCAD simulation tools gained through university research or relevant industry experience
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to interpret technical results and communicate findings effectively
  • A collaborative approach and proactive learning mindset

Beneficial

  • Master’s or PhD educated
  • Knowledge of power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs or related technologies
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as Python
  • Exposure to electrical characterisation techniques
  • Familiarity with semiconductor reliability concepts
  • Experience contributing to technical projects, experimental planning or structured root cause analysis

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
