The analytical, transactional and communications engine of a lean investment team

Function: Investment & Investment Operations

Reporting to: CEO & COO

Location: Abu Dhabi, ADGM

Working arrangement: Remote

The Role

Role Purpose

The Investment Associate supports the origination, evaluation, execution and monitoring of investments across the Firm, its Funds and the SPVs through which investments are held.

Working closely with the CEO, COO and CFO, the role provides the analytical, transactional and communications support required by a lean investment team—from initial screening and SPV establishment through to transaction completion, portfolio monitoring and investor reporting.

This is a hands-on position offering broad exposure across investment management, deal execution, investor relations and investment operations.

Why This Role, Now

The Firm has onboarded executive management, including a Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and is building the operational platform required for its next stage of growth.

The Firm is digitalising its operations through a governed document-management system, a centralised action register and a scalable, automated operating model supporting a deliberately lean team.

This position forms part of the next stage of the Firm's growth and platform development.

Key Responsibilities

Investment and Deal Execution

  • Manage live transactions from commencement through to completion under the COO's direction.
  • Coordinate transaction timetables, data rooms, counterparties and external advisers.
  • Support commercial, financial, legal and operational due diligence.
  • Monitor transaction requirements, outstanding actions and closing deliverables.
  • Ensure transaction records and supporting documentation remain complete and audit-ready.

Financial Analysis and Modelling

  • Build and maintain financial models, valuations and sensitivity analyses.
  • Conduct commercial, market, industry and counterparty due diligence.
  • Analyse financial performance, operating metrics and investment risks.
  • Prepare clear recommendations and supporting analysis for investment decisions.
  • Review investment assumptions and identify material risks, sensitivities and value drivers.

Investment Memoranda and Committee Papers

  • Prepare investment memoranda, Investment Committee papers and transaction summaries.
  • Produce post-completion reviews and portfolio updates.
  • Ensure all materials are prepared to a Board-ready and investor-ready standard.
  • Coordinate supporting information and respond to questions arising during the approval process.

SPV Establishment and Administration

  • Work with the COO to establish and maintain investment SPVs.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel, outsourced service providers and the fund administrator.
  • Support the preparation of constitutional documents, registers, bank accounts and closing documentation.
  • Manage SPV establishment and transaction-closing mechanics.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records throughout the SPV lifecycle.

Portfolio Monitoring and Investment Pipeline

  • Monitor portfolio performance, financial results and key operating indicators.
  • Support the CFO's quarterly valuation process using IPEV methodology.
  • Gather and analyse underlying financial and operational data from portfolio companies.
  • Maintain portfolio schedules, investment records and performance reporting.
  • Support origination through funding-round tracking, secondary-market monitoring and broker-flow analysis.
  • Maintain the investment target pipeline and transaction schedules.
  • Identify and escalate emerging market, sector and investment themes to the CEO and COO.

Investor Relations and Communications

  • Support fundraising activities and ongoing investor communications.
  • Prepare quarterly investor reports, presentations and other reporting materials.
  • Coordinate responses to due diligence questionnaires and investor information requests.
  • Prepare and maintain investor data-room content.
  • Ensure communications are accurate and appropriate for Professional Clients and Market Counterparties.
  • Contribute to investor presentations, updates and transaction announcements.

Investment Operations

  • Establish and maintain transaction, investor and portfolio data rooms.
  • Complete due diligence questionnaires and support investor due diligence processes.
  • Support Limited Partner onboarding, KYC and AML documentation requirements.
  • Assist with the administration of capital calls and distributions.
  • Act as a day-to-day liaison with the outsourced fund administrator.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready investment and investor records.
  • Support ongoing compliance, governance and regulatory reporting requirements.

Process and Operational Development

  • Contribute to the development of the Firm's operations manual and standard operating procedures.
  • Document and improve processes across fund operations, the SPV lifecycle, investor onboarding and investor reporting.
  • Support the implementation of scalable digital workflows and automated operating processes.
  • Identify operational gaps and recommend practical improvements.

Digital Profile and Firm Communications

  • Manage and update the Firm's website, LinkedIn page and other relevant communication channels.
  • Contribute to transaction announcements, market updates and thought-leadership content.
  • Ensure public communications are professional, accurate and consistent with the Firm's regulatory obligations.

General Firm Support

  • Contribute to the broader operation of a small, regulated investment firm.
  • Support record-keeping, management information and internal reporting.
  • Assist colleagues across functions where required.
  • Undertake other responsibilities typical of an associate position within a growing investment-management firm.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • CFA Level III candidate or recently qualified CFA preferred.
  • Strong degree in finance, economics, accounting, business or a related discipline.
  • CA, CPA or ACCA qualifications are also highly regarded and may be considered alongside or in place of the CFA.

  • Collaborative and comfortable supporting colleagues outside the immediate scope of the role.
  • Commercially minded, organised and capable of managing competing priorities.
  • Discreet and trustworthy when handling confidential Board, Investment Committee, portfolio and investor information.
  • Comfortable working in a lean team where initiative, accountability and execution are essential.

Working Style

  • Able to operate effectively and independently in a remote environment.
  • Disciplined in maintaining records, deadlines, communication and reporting cadence.
  • Proactive in providing updates and escalating issues.
  • Comfortable working across multiple transactions, stakeholders and time zones.
  • Able to maintain institutional-quality standards without requiring close supervision.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
