The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective production processes. This role focuses on identifying and resolving manufacturing issues, improving equipment and process performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

The position requires strong experience in metal-mechanical manufacturing processes, torque-controlled assembly systems, pressure systems, and production troubleshooting. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Design Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to pinpoint technical issues, determine root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that improve manufacturing performance and product quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or production support within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting metal-mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Experience with torque-controlled tools and assembly systems, including troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Experience supporting pressure-related manufacturing systems and processes, including pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to pinpoint production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and technical documentation.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing process documentation, work instructions, and operating standards.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Ability to manage multiple production priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive, powersports, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with machining, metal fabrication, welding, or other metal-mechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of torque strategies, fastening systems, torque validation, and tooling.
  • Experience with leak testing, pressure testing, pneumatic systems, and manufacturing equipment involving controlled pressure.
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), standardized work, line balancing, and workstation optimization.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction and production ramp-up activities.
  • Familiarity with quality methodologies such as PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and capability analysis.
  • Experience working closely with Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Experience with cost reduction, labor optimization, and manufacturing efficiency initiatives.

Position Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides direct technical support to production operations, with a strong focus on resolving manufacturing problems and maintaining stable, capable, and efficient processes. The role works closely with operators, technicians, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to quickly identify production issues, pinpoint root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Key responsibilities include analyzing and troubleshooting metal-mechanical manufacturing processes, assembly systems, torque applications, tooling, fixtures, pressure systems, and related production equipment. The position evaluates recurring production problems affecting safety, quality, throughput, downtime, and cost and develops solutions to improve overall process performance.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer reviews product designs and manufacturing requirements to identify potential issues related to manufacturability, assembly, materials, tooling, tolerances, and process capabilities. The role provides technical recommendations to improve existing and new products while incorporating lessons learned from current production issues into future manufacturing processes.

Additional responsibilities include developing and updating process documentation and work instructions, establishing operating and workstation standards, supporting labor and process studies, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvement. The role applies Lean Manufacturing principles, structured root cause analysis, and data-driven problem solving to support continuous improvement.

The position also evaluates new manufacturing technologies, equipment, tooling, and processes when required and may provide technical input for equipment improvements, sourcing decisions, new product introductions, and capital investments. The primary focus of the role, however, is hands-on manufacturing support, technical troubleshooting, process reliability, and rapid resolution of production issues rather than project management.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
