ProSidian Seeks a Fire Plans Examiner | Fire Protection Code Compliance for Program Support on a Exempt 1099 Contract: No Overtime Pay Basis for Hybrid – On/Off Client Site and Virtual in CONUS - Mid-Atlantic and Southeast (North Charleston, SC) as well as in CONUS - Mid-Atlantic and Southeast (North Charleston, SC) as well as in the California Central Coast; Western United States; North America Area (Vandenberg Space Force Base, near Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California). This role is for a Contract Contingent, Exempt 1099 Contract: No Overtime Pay Fire Plans Examiner [P1NIWC012] Professional generally located in the Charleston, SC supporting a Geographically dispersed naval engineering facilities requiring coordinated fire protection, life safety, and modernization support.

We seek Fire Plans Examiner candidates with relevant Defense and National Security (derived classification) Sector Experience (functional and technical area expertise also ideal) to support professional services engagement for Defense and National Security (derived classification) Sector Clients such as NIWC. This is a Contract Contingent or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Fire Protection Code Compliance Functional Area / Swim Lane / Category Discipline Professional - Navy | NIWC Fire Protection Engineer Services and Support Position; however, ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a full-time ProSidian-employed W-2 Position.

JOB OVERVIEW

Provide services and support as a Fire Plans Examiner [Navy | NIWC Fire Protection Engineer Services and Support] aligned with the Fire Protection Code Compliance Functional Area / Swim Lane / Category Discipline in the Defense and National Security (derived classification) Industry Sector.

This role focusses on Engineering; Compliance; Risk Management (derived ProSidian alignment) Solutions for clients such as U.S. Department of the Navy, Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (Navy / NIWC Atlantic) | NIWC Atlantic, Department of the Navy; GSA Federal Acquisition Service conducts MRAS. Generally Located In Vandenberg Space Force Base, near Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California and across the California Central Coast; Western United States; North America Region (Of Country/World) Hybrid – On/Off Client Site and Virtual.

Delivering mission-critical fire protection engineering, risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and safety solutions safeguarding Navy installations. Reviewing facility plans and engineering submittals to identify fire protection deficiencies and support compliant designs. Fire Protection Design Review and Code Compliance. The Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic is the U.S. Navy organization seeking fire protection engineering support for facilities in South Carolina, Virginia, and other CONUS locations. Requirement Status: Explicit functional task; separate role inferred | Coverage: Evaluation, measurement, compliance, technical execution

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Fire Plans Examiner | Fire Protection Code Compliance [P1NIWC012]

  • Provide Defense and National Security (derived classification) Sector related Hybrid – On/Off Client Site and Virtual Engineering Services for Navy | NIWC Fire Protection Engineer Services and Support as a Labor Category: Senior Consultant with activities generally located California Central Coast; Western United States; North America | California Central Coast; Western United States; North America Vandenberg Space Force Base, near Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California.
  • Support engineering design and submittal reviews. Identify code conflicts, document findings and track comment resolution. Refer engineering decisions and any approvals to the authorized engineer and government AHJ.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications For Fire Plans Examiner | Fire Protection Code Compliance [P1NIWC012] Candidates:

Demonstrated experience reviewing fire plans and applying applicable codes. ICC Fire Plans Examiner certification is desirable but not required. QFPE credentials apply when undertaking QFPE duties.

Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

Relevant engineering, fire protection or building-code education and plan-review experience recommended. PWS sets no years. Historical candidate minimum: master’s degree and 15 years; verify current terms.

Demonstrated experience reviewing fire plans and applying applicable codes. ICC Fire Plans Examiner certification is desirable but not required. QFPE credentials apply when undertaking QFPE duties.

Skills Required

  • Primarily focused on Engineering Services initiatives and aligned with Program Support activities in the Fire Protection Code Compliance Functional Area.
  • Drawing interpretation, applicable UFC/NFPA/IBC requirements, document comparison, code research, review logs.

Competencies Required

  • Detail orientation, evidence-based evaluation, consistent code interpretation, technical communication.

  • Proposed measure: review comments resolved with a documented technical basis; acceptance process TBD.
  • No independent PE sealing or government approval authority is assumed for this support role.
