Company Description

Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Lead the operational implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) across Qantas Engineering
  • Shape warehouse processes, inventory accuracy, training and go-live readiness across multiple ports
  • Play a pivotal role in the global Supply Chain Renewal project and the future of Engineering Supply Chain
  • Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2028

We’re constantly evolving, and this means the opportunities for our people are endless. There’s opportunity to embrace personal development and career growth, own projects and make an impact.

QE Supply Chain Renewal is transforming the Qantas Engineering Supply Chain by replacing legacy systems and introducing integrated Manhattan, Maintenix, and Oracle solutions across local and international ports.

As the System Implementation Lead - Operations and Logistics (WMS), you’ll lead the operational deployment and adoption of Manhattan’s Warehouse Management functionality across Qantas Engineering Supply Chain. With a strong focus on warehouse execution, inventory control and user readiness, you’ll connect system design with practical stores and logistics operations.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Design of pragmatic and efficient operational supply chain processes for warehousing and related supply chain functions including receipting, waving, order dispatch and inventory accuracy.
  • Lead WMS testing and validation across receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, dispatch, cycle counting, scrap and material sales processes.
  • Validate warehouse workflows, system integrations, local drop-point routes and transactions across Manhattan WMS, Maintenix and Oracle.
  • Build and maintain test scripts, record successes and failures, and provide operational input into system configuration and knowledge materials.
  • Design reporting to improve processes, particularly for cycle-counting, audit-trail validation and reconciliation across systems.
  • Build and monitor local readiness glide paths and data sets, infrastructure requirements and shape/monitor transactional preparation.
  • Create and deliver some training for warehouse and planning teams on WMS processes, RF devices, handhelds and inventory management
  • Support workload balancing and operational continuity during transition while ensuring compliance with aviation, dangerous goods and ChemAlert requirements.
  • Champion change, communicate implementation impacts and help teams embed new processes, technologies and behaviours.

You’ll have:

  • Strong operational knowledge of warehousing, stores, distribution, inventory control and cycle-counting processes within a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements and safety-sensitive supply chain environments is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, testing or supporting a WMS, ideally Manhattan WMS, together with RF and handheld technology.
  • Experience translating warehouse requirements into process workflows, test scenarios, training content and practical go-live plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, manage ambiguity and influence operational stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • Ability to lead workshops, and/or deliver training sessions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities autonomously.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
