Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector

Location: Richmond, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Schedule: 2nd Shift Starting Pay: $31/hour (Higher pay available based on experience + $3.00/Hour Night Differential) Overtime: Saturdays as needed

Position Overview

We are hiring a Quality Control Inspector with structural steel fabrication experience to support quality checks throughout the production process. Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection skills may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections of fabricated structural steel.
  • Identify and document nonconformances in accordance with D1.1/D1.5.
  • Inspect materials against shop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections, including dimensional layout and part placement.
  • Participate in annual AISC QC audits.
  • Work with production to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Help develop and support quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and quality standards.
  • Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
