Fitter/Fabricator

Location: Ashland, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Pay: Starting at $24.00/hour — higher rates available depending on experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM, with Saturdays as required

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fitter/Fabricator to fabricate, fit, and assemble components for overhead cranes and related equipment. The ideal candidate can read shop drawings, interpret AWS weld symbols, and perform high-quality FCAW welding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and fit components according to shop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform high-quality Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and AWS weld symbols.
  • Produce welds that meet or exceed AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
  • Pass a full-penetration vertical weld test and overhead fillet weld test.
  • Work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Work 10-hour shifts and Saturdays as required.
  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Fitter/Fabricator or in a similar industrial role.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and interpret welding symbols.
  • Experience with FCAW welding.
  • Ability to pass the required welding tests.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
