The posting

Red Badge Group is looking for a reliable and alert Retail Security Officer to join our team on a site in Henderson, West Auckland. You’ll help create a safe and welcoming environment for customers, retail staff, and visitors while providing a professional security presence. If you enjoy working with people and can stay calm and attentive in a busy setting, we’d like to hear from you.

This role has a set roster of day shifts on a Wednesday - Saturday - 0900-1900 except on Thursdays the hours are 1900-0030.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible, professional security presence within the retail environment
  • Deliver friendly and helpful customer service while supporting the safety of customers and staff
  • Monitor access points and follow site access control procedures
  • Remain alert to potential risks, suspicious activity, and changing situations
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and escalate concerns when required
  • Write clear, accurate incident reports and maintain relevant records
  • Communicate effectively with customers, retail staff, colleagues, and management
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and follow site procedures
  • Follow Red Badge Group’s health & safety requirements and professional standards

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to follow access control procedures and site instructions
  • Clear written communication skills, including the ability to complete incident reports
  • A professional demeanour, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Alertness and sound judgement when responding to incidents or identifying potential risks
  • Ability to work well as part of a team while remaining dependable and attentive
  • Previous retail security, security, or customer service experience is an advantage
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand and at least 18 years of age
  • Hold, or be able to obtain, a current NZ COA (Certificate of Approval) security licence
  • Flexibility to work the set roster pattern of Wed-Saturday shifts, with late night Thursdays.
