The posting

Reddit is a community of communities. It’s built on shared interests, passion, and trust, and is home to the most open and authentic conversations on the internet. Every day, Reddit users submit, vote, and comment on the topics they care most about. With 100,000+ active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors, Reddit is one of the internet’s largest sources of information. For more information, visit www.redditinc.com.

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Design to lead the experience strategy for Reddit’s Search & Feeds experiences. Reporting to our Head of Design, you’ll lead a design team shaping how people find relevant conversations, discover communities, and build connections to the topics they care about. Your impact will extend across Reddit, connecting discovery to the experiences that turn initial interest into ongoing participation.

This role combines product vision, design leadership, and a high bar for craft. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science across Reddit to make discovery more useful, intuitive, and distinctly Reddit driving growth and retention by helping people connect with communities that matter to them.

What you’ll do

  • Set the design vision for Search & Feeds. Define a cohesive experience strategy across search, feed experiences, recommendations, and community discovery, connecting near-term improvements to a longer-term vision.
  • Lead and develop the team. Coach design leaders and individual contributors, build clear ownership, and create an environment where people can do ambitious work and grow.
  • Shape product direction. Partner with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities, establish priorities, and guide investment decisions grounded in user needs and business goals.
  • Raise the bar for quality. Drive thoughtful interaction design, clear information architecture, accessible experiences, and strong execution from early concepts through launch.
  • Make relevance understandable. Help people understand and influence what they see, bringing clarity and user control to ranking, personalization, and recommendations.
  • Design for different discovery needs. Support people seeking a specific answer, exploring a new interest, or returning to communities they already value.
  • Connect discovery to community health. Consider how search and feeds affect participation, conversation quality, and the communities that make Reddit valuable.
  • Establish how success is measured. Use research, experimentation, and behavioral data to evaluate usefulness, satisfaction, and the quality of discovery alongside engagement.
  • Influence across Reddit. Communicate a clear point of view, build alignment across teams, and contribute to the broader design organization’s standards and practices.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience leading design for complex consumer products at scale, with meaningful work in search, discovery, feeds, recommendations, or related experiences.
  • A track record of building and developing design teams, including managing managers and supporting individual contributors.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear strategies and compelling experiences.
  • Deep expertise in interaction design and information architecture, with a portfolio demonstrating both design quality and measurable user impact.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, Product, Research, and Data Science on experiences shaped by ranking and personalization systems.
  • The ability to balance user needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and the health of a broader product ecosystem.
  • Clear communication and the ability to influence senior leaders, resolve competing priorities, and make decisions with incomplete information.
  • An appreciation for community-driven products and the different ways people seek information, participate, and build trust online.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
