The posting

Build RFDS WA’s workforce planning framework from the ground up. You’ll design it, own it and lead it. Turn workforce data into decisions that get the right doctors, nurses and pilots to the right base at the right time. Lead a small specialist team that’s set to grow, and guide the move to one unified, planned rostering model on Air Maestro. Full-time, permanent role at Jandakot with flexible hybrid working, free onsite parking and not-for-profit salary packaging.

About the team Every aeromedical retrieval depends on a crew being available, rested and trained before the call comes in. Across the largest health jurisdiction in Australia, that takes planning months ahead, not juggling on the day. Reporting to the General Manager, Operations & Performance, you’ll lead a small Workforce Planning & Rostering Team that’s set to grow. You’ll work closely with our Heads of Medical, Nursing and Flying Operations, Talent Acquisition and Data & Analytics. Operations & Performance and People & Culture have already done the groundwork, including a review of aeromedical FTE, so you’ll start with a clear baseline and strong support. About the role

Design and implement the RFDS WA Workforce Planning Framework. You’ll forecast supply against budgeted FTE at each base, anticipate attrition, leave and training impacts, and make sure our FTE allocation is financially viable and meets contract obligations, including WACHS Minimum Service Capability. Turn forecasts into action. You’ll work with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to align recruitment with future demand, and with Training Coordinators to plan for the onboarding and orientation that new crew need. Lead the team that drafts and coordinates rosters across our aeromedical workforces. You’ll set the standards and timelines, and operational leaders will approve the final rosters. Build your team’s planning capability, bring a planning lens to the Air Maestro rollout and create tools and processes that last beyond your involvement.

About you

A strong track record in strategic or operational workforce planning in a large, complex or multi-site organisation. You might come from HR, people operations, workforce analytics or capacity planning, ideally in health, aviation, resources, defence, emergency services or another 24/7 environment. Advanced Excel modelling and ideally Power BI, with experience building workforce, headcount or capacity models and turning them into clear recommendations for senior leaders. Experience leading and developing a small team, with the credibility to influence stakeholders across the business. A working knowledge of rostered 24/7 workforces, including Enterprise Agreements, leave, fatigue and training constraints. You don’t need to be a career rosterer, but you’ll understand rosters well enough to lead the team that builds them. Tertiary qualifications in human resources, business, data analytics or a related field are an advantage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
