About Our Family

We're an active family of four based in Cleveland — two working parents and two school-age kids who are equally at home on a swim deck, in an art studio, or in the kitchen. We love our city: we go to shows and performances, host friends for dinner parties (both intimate and lively), bike, and fill our weekends exploring our neighborhood with friends and family.

We're high-performing, warm, and deeply intentional about how our household runs. One of our core values is raising kids who know how to take care of themselves — we want them learning how to do their own laundry, pack their own bags, feed themselves after school, and manage their responsibilities before screens or downtime. We don't want someone who does things for our kids. We want someone who teaches them, holds them accountable, and makes it feel like a team effort along the way.

We already have a biweekly house cleaner, and this long term role is focused on the flow and function of daily household life from someone who takes genuine ownership of the space and the people in it, while also organically connecting with our kids and supporting the overflow of our weekday work/life juggle.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You're a self-starter who walks into a home and sees what needs to happen, and does it. You don't need a task list or someone checking in on you. You take initiative, anticipate needs, and bring a calm, professional presence to everything you do. You have a career trajectory that reflects intention: you've been successful in some capacity and you're consciously pursuing household management as a professional path, not as a placeholder.

You have high emotional intelligence. You know how to read a room, how to connect with tweens without overstepping, and how to build trust with a family that values their privacy and their systems. You're coachable and genuinely open to feedback, you don't impose your preferences on the household, you learn how this family does things and you do it their way, better.

You're inclusive, adaptable, and open-minded. We are a a diverse, engaged family with kids who are thoughtful about the world around them, and we need someone whose values genuinely reflect that. You hold firm but friendly boundaries with kids without being rigid, reinforce household rules consistently, and find creative ways to make everyday responsibilities feel engaging and collaborative. Whether it's folding laundry, tackling chores, or cooking and baking together in the kitchen, you enjoy helping kids build practical skills, take ownership, and have fun along the way.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

  • School pickups and activity drop-offs and pickups on activity days, with a typical departure around 2:45 PM; on bus days, be present and ready when kids arrive home in the late afternoon
  • Participate in neighborhood carpools as needed
  • Guide and coach kids through their after-school responsibilities: backpack prep, snacks, homework check, laundry, and chores — holding them accountable in a warm, firm, consistent way
  • Enforce household screen and device rules: no screens until tasks are completed; phone and laptop use within established family guidelines

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Create, implement, and maintain organizational systems throughout the home; seasonal projects including garage, closets, mudroom, entryway, and sports equipment
  • Daily resets: dishes, counters, surfaces, tidying high-traffic areas
  • Prepare the home ahead of cleaner visits
  • Assist with dinner party and guest prep; support the family's love of hosting
  • Help with holiday setup and takedown; assist with travel packing and unpacking
  • Notice and report household issues (leaks, maintenance needs, etc.) and coordinate with vendors or repair visits when the family is unavailable
  • Light maintenance tasks as noticed: replacing light bulbs, batteries, smoke detector checks, and similar

Inventory & Errands

  • Manage and restock household supplies (Costco, Target, Amazon); with time and trust, place orders independently
  • Manage running household supply lists and subscriptions
  • Handle mail, packages, and box breakdown
  • Kid-related errands (sports gear, school supplies, etc.) as needed, potentially run prior to the home shift

Meal Support

  • Prepare nutritious, filling after-school snacks and light meals for the kids — treat it like a first dinner before activities
  • Collaborate on family dinner prep in a way that involves and teaches the kids
  • Grocery shopping in person (produce quality matters to this family); bring your list, your eye for quality, and your initiative

Laundry & Linens

  • Manage kids' laundry end-to-end: washing, drying (with attention to family preferences on what gets dried vs. hung), folding, and putting away
  • Coach up and involve kids in the process wherever possible but take on ownership of completion
  • Assist with parents' laundry as needed
  • Dry cleaner pickups and drop-offs
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional deep cleans on a monthly or seasonal basis (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Organizational projects for pantry, sports equipment, gear, garage, and seasonal items
  • Potential support with household projects during a planned renovation in the coming year

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Be present for contractor, and landscaper visits when the family is unavailable
  • Coordinate repair scheduling and, during the upcoming renovation, assist with research and coordination as needed

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
